Are they worth fitting and if so, how much do they reduce the gear lever throw by ?

cheers

I had B&M on my bug 5 speed, loved it. Tight throw and action was more precise. Throw was noticeably reduced but not to the point that I missed gears or it felt strange. Look at all the bushes at the same time for best results. Great feel to it, and it's something you are using all the time, so you really feel the benefit. Note to self, must get one for my 6 speed. . . . .

Can they be fitted from above?

I fitted one to my '99 Impreza when I had it. Took a little getting used to and the reduction in throw was quite noticable although it does weigh up the movement a bit. Once used to it, it was good.
I fitted it from above.

Had one on my 5-speed, I thought it made little difference so removed it and sold it on.

I think it makes enough of a difference to warrant fitting; shorter, tighter and just an all round nicer experience. Had one fitted to OE v6 classic box and P1 box, same experience with both boxes. Go buy one

The best buy is to upgrade all the bushes. Alyn at AS performance sells them for about £60.
