Last review I saw was in Performance car I think. Got an R to 60 in 4.3, 100 in 11.3.
Never seen any other figures that quick. Tend to be 4.5 and 12.3ish.
1/4 was about 13.2
top speed was150 - at 8k I think BOOM

Airhead,
The Type R version 5 weighs 1270Kg. I think the version 4 is similar.
The new version 7 is MUCH heavier - a different shell. Power remains at 280PS. Even a 10% torque increase won't endow it with the same acceleration capability of the Type R (although I've seen 0-100mph in 11.0 secs in Autocar, that must be taken with a very large dose of scepticism).
If you want the full Sti Type R spec from the brochure, I can send it to you.

The Autocar 0-100 time was not even timed, it is totally lacking in credibility - the journalist just "guessed" it. Evo magazine recently tested the Evo VII vs STi, and got a 0-100 time of 13.0 seconds for both cars. (although it weighs more, remember that Japanese manufacturers have a gentleman's agreement not to exceed 276bhp, or at least not publish it if they do - similarly to Nissan with the Skyline, Subaru have probably upped the power to 300bhp-ish to compensate for the weight gain, and make it at least as quick as the old STi models).
The type R performance should be similar to the P1 (similar power & weight), which is 0-100 in 13.3 seconds according to Evo. Although the type R is (I think) designed to run on Japanese fuel (100 RON), so on 97 RON UK fuel it may be a little slower.

Matt D, the P1 was designed to run on jap fuel and adapted to run on english fuel. It has yet to be shown that the conversions to run on 97 ron have not been detrimental to performance.
I also know on good authority that the figures in evo magazine should not be trusted.

Tractor - oops, forgot about that! In that case it should be a few tenths faster up to 100 (unless it needs a change up to 4th to hit the ton), and slower beyond it with a lower top speed.
Adam M - why aren't the figures in Evo to be trusted? Anyway, regarding the P1's performance, whether detrimentalised (is that a word??) by 97 RON or not, Top Gear have tested the Evo VI and P1 head to head and they reached 100 at the same time (the Evo having shorter gearing but weighing more), so I would be surprised if Evo mag's P1 acceleration figures were out by too much.

Waysiders - yes definately interested in the 'broture'. I'm interested in obscure stats too, like gearing ratios etc.
Jap is no prob, I work with some Japanese who can translate. I'll send an e-mail for details.
CraigH - PCar, what issue was it, and has anyone got a copy (photocopy, or scan) of the article.
