What to buy next?
I need help, I have got an 03 blobeye wrx at the moment and I cannot make up my mind as to what I want next, so if it was your money what would you buy? An 05 widetrack sti blob, a wrx hawkeye, a classic type r or a p1? Thanks in advance.

There's something about a type r that's mildly tuned that will always put a smile on your face as a weekend play toy and commuter. For 8k you would pick up a very nice one, possibly with a forged engine and six speed etc.
In saying that my money would be spent on a wide track 05> white or crystal grey blob sti, much more refined. Technology moves on and it has all the good bits fitted that most put on a classic to run big power. The engine are good for 400-450 on standard internals if you wanted to.

Yeah that's the sticking point I keep coming back to, the widetrack is probably the best drivers car but I have an arguement for and against each 1, this is why it's taken me 6 months so far and I'm still not sure what I want.

Don't rush your decision matey. Wait until the right car comes along. You are probably still at the stage where you would make a different decision with each day of the week!
For what it's worth, I'd plump for a Blob Widetrack STi.

lol, wide track, wide track, wide track,,,, current scoobynet fad lol
99% of poeple will notice sod all difference so ignore that part of it.
I went from a 330bhp classic weekend toy and a bmw e39 528 to a forged 2.5 400+ hawkeye wrx. Have to say one of the best choices i've ever made. Its by far the best of both, comfort is good and its got the bollox when I want it.
2.5 out the box is a bit meh (as is well known) but for that sort of money should be able to find a rebuilt forged one so no worrys about that. Low down grunt of the 2.5 is perfect for road and don't have to rev it hard to go anywhere.

Hmmm, I like the look of the hawkeye but the bit that puts me off is the fact that there is a thread on here with multiple pages all saying the 2.5 is very fragile.

standard form yeah there not great. as said once rebuilt and forged there ace. The blocks ok up to about 450-460 ish give or take. Mine maxed out the sti top mount at 404/421 though.

Very tempting, just not sure if I want to buy a car then strip it to do a better job than what subaru originaly did, then it's still got the weaker gearbox and poor brakes etc.

I was in the same position as you, except i was coming from a 299bhp Legacy Gtb, had my heart set on a white Type R, but then I kept reading up a out how good Widetrack STIs were. I changed my plan, borrowed more than I intended and bought this, and I haven't looked back. It's amazing.

That's a really nice car, and is very tempting, I think I may have to go and test drive a widetrack and have a play with the centre diff as I have not been in one before.

Nah nonsense, I came to that decision before I even started posting on this board. It was the best of the three newage cars I ran bug/hawk/blob.
Plumping for one makes sense. They're usually the newest cars available with the lower tax bracket, which is a bonus as some of these cars are getting old now. They have the extras which make the car more desirable even if a lot of people wouldn't notice - and that will help residuals long term if you ever want to sell the car.
The Scoobynet fad is the JDM loving I'm surprised they haven't hijacked this thread yet and accused the OP of being a daft for even considering the UK car because it doesn't have a rear wiper

True all-rounder = Blob Wagon with a few upgrades and save yourself £3/4k, safe up to 350bhp if you don't drive like a lunatic with no mechanical sympathy.
Fun car = Type r 300/320bhp is enough to make your ar$e twitch every time you get in it, for £8k you should be able to pick up a corker with loads done to it and probably won't lose a penny come sale time.
But i'm biased, I have both.

I went from a my03 wrx to a my05 widetrack jdm sti and haven't looked back, one of my better decisions. As they are so good out the box I have hardly spent anything on it other than exhaust and remap.

As good as a widetrack blob STI is it will be worth peanuts in no time. The P1 if looked after will eventually appreciate in value! Plus the P1 is one of the Impreza icons, the blob... well it's like the slightly chubby geeky kid with all the best toys that arrived late to the party!
