Default Simple job ? Cigarette lighter replacement...

Hi,

Ok so got a TomTom recently and found out the cigarette lighter has no power (although the green light around it is fine, but pointless).

Got a replacement unit.

My question is before I go dismantling the entire dash, what the easiest way to take out and replace...

All the best,

Jeff

Have you tried not to push it in all the way? My classic was a little funny but if I move the attachment about it works. Never noticed it lighting up up tho. Mines a year 2000 on a 'w'

Just cause the green surround is on doesn't mean the socket is live.

The fuse should be behind the coin pocket to the right of the steering wheel. Might be an idea to pop the surround off as the connection at the back comes off quite easily.

No that's the problem.

Checked fuse and that's ok, also looks clean in there.

But I have a brand new unit so can replace it if I knew how to easily get it out.

Not hard m8 think you have to take the front off and get to it from the back
If it's a classic there be 2 screws hid behind the cup holder or the clock hidden behind 2 caps

Quicker than taking a pic, good old Google...

It is this type of console, bar the triple gauges, just standard in mine

I have a similar problem on my classic where the ciggy lighter don't work
The lighter bit itself don't stay pushed in but there is also a black wire at the back that has been cut. Any idea as to where it should go?
