AFAIK you need the box, propshaft, rear diff, drive shafts and clutch slave cylinder from a 6-speed.

usual cost is £1500-£2000

mine is a blobeye wagon but had the V7 STI shafts/hubs and then found my discs wouldn't fit, requiring sti discs. WRX calipers were ok though.

Currently running an API 6 speed conversion that kept the WRX disks...... Jap 6 speed with Jap rear Diff.

Gearing is a bit short on the motorway

^^ That price is usually quoted for a conversion kit ie everything you require to do the conversion. £1800 seems to be the going rate. If you can get the clutch and flywheel as part of the deal then you will need the starter motor. If you plan to keep using you 5 speed clutch and flywheel (they do fit) then you standard starter will be ok.

Make sure you get the 6 speed gear linkage as part of the deal. I have driven a converted 6 speed WRX that used the standard 5 speed linkage and changing gear was very hard work.

As long as you get all of the parts at the start (keep pushing for as many bits 'extra' as possible - Cash is king - then it is a very straight forward conversion and well worth doing.

I love my 6-speed (fitted into a classic)

UPDATE, Both boxes are now here from Subaru, both are still available and BOTH are dccd type

We have 1 only NEWLY Reconditioned BY SUBARU 6 speed box non Dccd type I bought 2 last week and one is reserved for a customer already. These are UK spec 6 speeds with a better [ for cruising ] 6th gear.

Call me on 01926 614333 and l'll tell you what you actually need to get it in your car. I have options for the conversion set that will give you a complete kit to suit most cars.

Beware of older 6 speeds as most brought in for us to fit that have been bought "cheaply" need over £600.00 + VAT spending on synchros and so to make them useable. AND if, as is often the case, that the viscous centre is knackered add a further £460.00 + VAT

Good luck, call if I can help. David
