Newage JDM - is 6th on motorways a drain?
I'm off to look at a JDM STI shortly and as it's rather a long way I'd like to know what they're like on motorways trundling along at 70.
I understand the final drive is shorter than the UK Hawkeye I used to own but I'd like to know a bit about the NVH and fuel hit it takes on longer journeys.
I've done a bit of searching and found it sits just over 3,000rpm but as it's a new engine and gearbox to me I'm after owners experience rather than just numbers.
Cheers,
David

I'll take the much better punch in 5th & 6th, over the slightly higher revs per mph in top.
It will make little to no difference in fuel. Your typical driving style will make more of a difference.

I've just had mine, and 6th is a nice gear.
Ambles along at 70 at just over 3000rpm, as has been said, and a decent bit of punch when overtaking. However, it is running 360bhp.
As Shaun has said, it's how you drive more than anything.

I used to own a uk wrx before my jdm sti and the fuel consumption is very similar, maybe jdm is a little worse on motorway but not enough to make me change back. They are not to noisy at motorway speeds,
