Default Hawkeye Scooby ICE Wagon

Hi All

So Ive gone n bought my dream car... a scooby! on the + side its awesome! on the down side its got a little bit of damage.

Got quiet cheap due to the damage, now just got to fix it!

Its a 2006 plate hawkeye estate, 42k on the clock, black, with tints, Family owned... Lovely!

Yes its a non turbo, but that's only because i cant afford the fuel or servicing costs right now. I don't need the acceleration i have a motorbike for that!

Previous owner has ripped out the stereo which is bonus for me as saves me the time of removing it!

So ive got an astra im using now, its got 2 12' DB audio Trex subs, Inphase 2001D amp, 8 Farad capacitor and fat battery cant remember specs exactly, with split relay charge kit. Inphase components & amp.
Are whats going to be moved over.

Gettings new speakers for the rest havent decided yet.

More Pics to follow....

what do you all think! inside is mint

Would rather not say incase i come to sell it but,
it came with no tax, no mot, so fixed and on the road im lookin at around ?500+/-

Couple of pics of my astra install

fibreglass parcel shelf, with 6x9s in,
boxes were made of 1inch thick mdf with 2 ports on each sub, and were not big and had to be reverse mounted. so upgraded to custom 1.9cuft (ex driver) sealed units. i prefer sealed as its cleaner and 6000 watts ensures its loud enough.

current setup with sealed units

old boxes with 2 small ports per each box, 4 ports in total at 1.75 inch wide each.

Compared to a sony 12 inch subwoofer.

Looks good but please please don't put 6x9's in. They are the worst possible thing you can do for a "system"

im gonna stick amped componants in the front,

n in the back and boot ill stick the same size speakers n run them off the head units power. probably wont be components more like cheap ones just to get all round sound. Either juice or aplines E's

Why scrub the first two characters of the reg from the first two pics and leave them on in the third ????????????????

Now any prospective buyer can HPI it before viewing.

And why buy a (non-performance) Subaru to use as a boom box?

A sincere word of advice.
WHEN some (usually young, but not always) prat decides that they want to show that their GTi or whatever can take a Scooby out of the frame don't half (or worse) kill yourself trying to fight them off.

I've had the experience of the aftermath of youngsters being killed in car crashes. PLEASE don't let it happen to you.

don't bother with the power cap, they are a waste of time and money

how come there are 2 different subs in the same box?
the ports are very small for 12" subs

if you need some advice on systems, have a look on talkaudio.co.uk

That was my first point - he's given the reg away in the 3rd photo, so there's no point in hiding it in the first 2.

My other point was that he's driving a Scooby. Clowns. muppets and d-heads will take him on. He's young, he'll respond (hell, I'm old and I respond !) but he won't have the power to stamp his 'authority' in a few seconds.

Imagine trying to overtake before a bend when you've a Hawk Wagon in the distance you'd need a Hawk STi.

I don't begrudge 'the lad' at all, and I sincerely hope that one day he gets what I guess is his dream machine, a thoroughbred Scooby.

But above all else I hope he lives to experience the thrill we've all had when we first drove one.

Ive already got all the sound system, it does help tho.
And can prove it!
The battery sits at a constant 12v even when the car is on because it runs on a split charge relay kit.
the battery is more than enough for the amps drawn for the amplifier.
The 8 farad cap keeps the charge at a constant 13.8-14.4 volts. which is just better even when on for half an hour, its still sitting at a constant 13.8volts.
.... should mention only when driving on motorway, parked is a different story.

and yea that was the old boxes, i changed them and now have them in the astra, in the sealed units.

Dont worry dude im not boy racer, i do know how to drive, although most people will say that, i have a motorcycle for speed & motorcross bikes for going nuts on.

My scooby estate is perfect, why?

for my loud sound system wont fault it, its boxter torque on unrestricted speed limit roundabouts will be less stressful for the engine, and mpg's on long runs, as well as servicing, and now i can tow off road.

And its awd system will not leave me stranded next winter!

.... why wouldn't i want a scooby?

If i can overtake in a vauxhall astra 1.6 16v with all that sound system in im 10000% sure i can over take in a 2.0L subaru.....

Errrrrmmmmmm, he hasn't tried to hide anything. Take another look, you can clearly see the plate is broken

Just because he's young doesn't mean he'll be a danger on the road. I had an evo at 19, cossie at 20 and im still here, never even had a crash. I've had more high performance cars than you can shake a stick at.
Plus, Im sure the lad will realize very quickly that racing in a non turbo impreza wagon is pointless. He'll be out run by just about everything on the road......lol.....
And op, fuel consumption really isn't that great either unfortunately.

Sorry but the power cap does sod all in the grand scheme of things, especially with the second battery. 13.8-14.4V is the charging voltage of the battery with the engine running (I.e. the alternator output voltage). When it's discharging it'll start around 12V and drop from there.

Also I hate to say it but that inphase amp is never good for 6kW RMS, you might find its 6kW peak but even that's optimistic.

the power cap is pointless, probably worse fitting one than not. yes, i had one fitted years ago and no, i didn't improve anything.

the split charge is good and big power cables. have you done 'the big 3'?

loads of my mates have got massive systems, i am a judge for the spl format 'propper droppers'. and guess how many have got power caps fitted?

go on, have a guess?

none!

this was at the modified nationals last year, guess how many power caps?

agree'd about the 6k rms from an inphase amp too

I havent done the big three, but i had a look under the scooby today and there really thin so i will have to with this.

I see what you mean with the cap, but i dont go for spl, i go for sql and keeping the same regulatory voltage supplied to the amp makes sence to me.

Nope - never said rms
