Question

'Afternooon Chaps and Chapesses,

I have an MY98 wagon and am planning to buy some roof bars, primarily for fitting a roof box.

Does any body here have any experience of whether I would need genuine Scooby bars and fittings, or whether I can get decent quality/compatible items from the likes of Halfords.
Also, any recommendations for 'boxes would be appreciated.

Many thanks
Steve

Got the Subaru roof bars on PTMW! - bought 'em 2nd hand

They work & do as they say on the box

I'm sure that Universal Roof Bars will do exactly the same job but without "Subaru" stamped on them as all they've got to do is clamp to the bar securely.

(Stand to be corrected of course )

Halfords bars (which appear to be re-badged last-generation Thule - the locks are interchangeable anyway) work absolutley fine on my wagon. Carried 3 canoes at over 110mph without anything coming adrift anyway...

Thule bars are the best in the world - not cheap - but the best.

If you want something to put on the bars - the 'Roof Box Company' are great.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the responses.Just as an addition, what could I expect to pay for bars/fittings and a decent size/quality box (ooo er!)?
Is there much difference in price between official Scooby stuff and others?

Cheers
