Red face BOVS.....

.....ok so before I get flamed I know the importance of not using one but if a car is mapped to have one is that safe?

Keep in mind this is for our show car and its sometimes a head turner hearing a nice BOV. I have just purchased a Japspeed FMIC, once its on i'll be getting it remapped down at Scoobyclinic, can I get it remapped to allow the BOV to work safely?

Cheers guys

In my early days of scooby ownership I tried several bov's inc blitz, gfb etc and the only one that never gave me issues was my genuine hks ssqv. You get what you pay for. Of course I have now grown up and run standard bov.

Mine's been on since i bought it (March 2012) had no issues and i've had it remapped and tweaked since then and still had no issues at all with it. Would rather it wasn't on there but cba to change it!

I've had a bov on my rb5 for over 5 years with no problems what so ever. Also had the same valve on my last uk turbo for 3 years which was also problem free.

Here's the turbosmart valve I have:

I have a fake HKS one coming off my car on Monday, want me to post it to you? .

I wanted my new scoob reverted back to recirc but the stupid pipework on the FMIC won't allow me to . Turbosmart Vee Port Pro going on as Turbosmart are the only ones I really trust.

Thanks for the info guys, im still torn between what I want to do. I know for show purposes having a BOV sound while the car kicks out flames will be good, ive seen the flames first hand it attracted loads of people which would be a good thing from a trade point of view......but then on the other hand I know neither are good for the car in the long term.

Mr footlong, get an adaptor plate to allow to fit,I'm getting a friend to machine me one as we speak.and I think he is going to make a batch of them.as i cant find one any where! (harvey used to sell them but cant find anyone else) allows the re circ to be fitted straight to fmic pipe work ;-)

Depends on the turbo but most modern turbos are strong enough to cope with compressor stall

NO DUMP VALVE - YouTube
Very nice, I have heard this from a couple of scoobys when I was at York Raceway and I wondered what it was. When you say modern turbo does that include the standard 03 sti?

lmao, scoobynet myths strike again hahaha.

theres no long term damage by putting one on, some cars run them fine without even being mapped for them, some don't.

If you want one and your getting it mapped then best of both.

Dont let people on here put you off doing what you want to do.

Excellent that'll also save me £100

So in the next few weeks I will have a list of new bits done:

Samco Hoses
Japspeed Alloy Rad
Evans 180 Coolant
Japspeed FMIC
Custom Side Exit Exhaust (If Cobra Sports can pull it off)
All remapped by Scoobyclinic

Save yourself some more money and dont bother with the Japspeed rad unless yours has an issue
