Default looking for a bit more power

hi all I recently got myself a wrx blob all standard apart from a dump valve and a ninja back box, just looking for some ideas on what to do to get a little more out of her.

would it be worth swapping the tmic for a fmic?

thanks

Nope not without a turbo upgrade.

A sports cat or de-cat, fuel pump for safety and a re-map will max out your turbo.

Uprated fuel pump,
De-cat exhaust system,
STI up-pipe,
3 port boost solonoid,
Fancy panel filter,
Open source remap.

Could all be done for under a grand and will see you somewhere around 290bhp. Next step is to bolt on a different turbo, something like a front entry converted TD05 16G can be had for under £200 and will see you towards 330bhp.

At this level your current top mount is fine but if your budget stretches a bit further then a half decent front mount or sti top mount is a good buy.

You've already had good advice re. the actual mods etc.

Just one thing to remember, some mods have to be done together and some will require a remap as part of the upgrade.

I'm not supporting any professional but there are a few websites that detail staged upgrades, one of which is Andy Forrest's. I've also 'spoken' (via email) to EngineTuner who would have been helpful to me but I had a bit of good fortune and was able to buy an already uprated car, instead of buying 'low' and upgrading.

There's loads of others up and down the country frequently mentioned here.

These would give you an idea of what's possible, what's required and of course you can then work out how to budget for and source them.

Which panel filter is best to buy? Guessing induction kits are not that good.

Yes.

Some stations 'overlook' it though, the other option is to just keep your standard downpipe and bolt it on before the test. Only takes 15 mins.

Its definitely worth the hassle in my opinion.
