I read this new news regarding the STI package!
The extra grunt should attract a few more customers.

I'd buy the Toyota version - forgetting the STI model obviously.
Here's a reason to back that up.
Friend of my sells cars(any make) - including Euro Subaru's.
He had a Legacy diesel in recently (out of warranty), basically water had got into the bore and it broke.
He talked to Subaru UK who basically said, sorry we cant help you.
In contrast, he had a Toyota in a couple of months ago with a head problem (porous basically, and water got in).
The car was also broke (100K on it), Toyota replaced the engine FOC.
Make of that what you will.

From: Slowly rebuilding the kit of bits into a car...
In a similar story a friend had a problem with an 07 diesel Lexus and they re-built the engine, FOC.

P.S. Subaru diesel has known issues, hence I drive a Golf....

A BRZ with an extra 100bhp sounds great but they need to figure out what direction to take it.
A stock BRZ with a power hike would be dynamically poor without uprating various components and sticking a fatter set of tyres on it. This would make it more capable but possibly dilute the thrills if not executed properly.
It would also be a bit rubbish if a low rev engine with short gearing was used, the fun of the BRZ is hanging onto the power. If they go via a turbo route I would hope twin scroll 2.0 rather than single scroll 2.5 be used.
I would also hope they stick to RWD than create a heavier car that is basically an Impreza in a party frock.

From what I understand the car that is being teased isn't a "proper" STI, its just a BRZ tS. I believe that the engine configuration/power output of the BRZ tS will remain unchanged from standard, its a special edition in a similar vein to the TRD 86.
The proper BRZ STI is still to come...

May be a good buy in STI form. With Subaru losing customers hand over fist it will be as rare as hens teeth in coming years.
Think they need Harry Potters wand to get them out of the last five years of decline.
