Default Help needed, over revving ?

As above need some help please with a problem with my Subaru wrx sti ppp 03 plate. Last few days when in 4th or 5th gear when I get into boost range sort of 3200 rpms the revs start rising rapidly like its over revving. Feels like if I kept my foot down it would just rev all the way round the clock. Quite new to subarus and not the most technically gifted person so any advice is much appreciated. Thanks Mike

ffs that's what I expected you to say. How long will it hold out for if I drive sensibly ? How much is it to replace and fit a new one ?

It should last a fair few hundred miles (maybe a couple of thousand) if you don't push it. Depending on what clutch you go for I'd allow £350 upwards for a clutch supplied and fitted.

Same thing happeved to mine. But was on the NASIOC web site and found a post about this . The axles,on the rear, are held in place by little round circlips ,inside the diff. These come adrift sometimes, causing drive to virtually dsappear, as in a clutch problem. So before you shell out xxxx number of pounds on a clutch change, get on the floor at the cars rear, and look at the axle shafts as they enter the diff housing. If the shaft is displaced, you will see bright metal. If you can, then you have to knock it back in. I used my trolley jack handle. It knocks back in easily enough and hopefully saves you a few quid
