Default Budget tyres on the front or rear ?

Due to a run of real bad luck, i wont bore you all, i have had to replace 2 of my tyres with budget tyres only temporary but for a few mths at least.

My question, do i stick the 2 budgets on the front or rear ?

i have pirelli pzero neros as my 2 good tyres

my thinking budget on the rear, but then do i want the rear to be unstable but then with budgets, the steering is important LOL

so, front or rears for budgets

cheers

How about part worns? you could probably get a decent brand?...failing that, I'd agree with budgets on the rear.

On the rear mate, as you say steering is a bit to important to leave to chance.
Hope things turn around for you soon bud

Budget on the front!

All tyre manufacturers state that in a case where tyres are different front to back the best tyres should be on the rear. The logic is quite obvious when you think about it.

Point 2 on this page explains it nicely.

I'd put them on the front, its a lot easier to deal with a bit of understeer rather than snapping into oversteer when you lease suspect.

As above, depends if you want a 'pointy' car, or one that understeers like a bitch!
For safety sake, chuck the budgets on the front.

Ive had my uk300 for about 6 months now, and when i got it, it was/still is fitted with linglongs on the front, and sunful on the rear. (which is odd as i have a folder full of receipts and the car has had thousands thrown at it)

both equally **** tyres, but it understeers if you push on hard. but in reality, who can drive their car these days at 10/10ths ALL the time?

not me, and as such i have had relatively no issues with the crap tyres, once you find their limits. you can still push on a fair bit, but maybe only 7/10ths lol

im not going to change them just cos they are not the best, once they wear out tho ill go for the std fitment pirelli p-zero rosso

imo tho i would personally stick them on the rear to try and the **** end out a bit lol

It depends on how much tread is on the Pirellis and if the new Budgets are going to be better than worn Pirellis. Whichever tyre is going to offer you more grip is the ones you want on the back. Part worm is a good idea as mentioned above.

try running some proper power through your linglongs in the wet and see how you rate them.

your braking is also effected with crap tyres, you cant account for having to do an emergency stop in the wet, performance cars shouldn't have budget tyres fitted, but your ok as you have a wrx

pmsl. as said they were on it when i got it!
maybe thats why the brakes feel poor then, can get the abs kicking in above 80 lol

tbh i thought it would slide around more, but just understeers. maybe ill stick the sunful's on the front and see if that makes a difference lol

I'm sorry but it depends what you learnt to drive in - I'm old so it was RWD.

I've always had the better grip worn tyres on the front, I can handle oversteer half asleep, but understeer is a silent killer

Try understeering into a wet roundabout on tingtongs at less than the speed limit - not fun at all.

Her who must be obeyed has a Jeep, and oversteer in the wet is easy on it's cheapy rubbish knobblies, ( big heavy torque diesel !)

All IMHO, of course.

dunx

P.S. Other way round on track as that's usually grippy enough any way...

Just be careful in the wet as an unexpected dose of understeer can be just as damaging!
