Default Where to buy 2.5 VTA BOV / Dump Valve

Hi All,

I sold my bug about 2 years ago and after driving a pug 207 for a while im sick of it and getting myself a 3rd gen 2.5 WRX. I'd like a BOV (I know, I know), but on googling, im not seeing much choice for the EJ255(?).

Is there a reason that theyre not so available? incompatibility? or just lack of demand due to the BOV "type" of people not being in range to afford the later hatch?

Finally... Any recommendations for a source for buying one? I wont lie, its not about performance really, just the sound, so the cheaper the better but with least chance of reduced performance.

Thanks

PM Tommytubby on here because he sells them cheap and pretty good quality, also supplies real carbon wheels just for the 3rd gen 2.5 WRX.

They're bollox.

I run a GFB Respons with the spring rate turned up on full recirc but you can run them slightly VTA if you want a chav whistle sound with minimal performance loss.

My advice from what I have learned is NOT to run a VTA system because firstly it ***** your engine up and second makes you sound like a ****. If you want an aggressive snarl I'd recommend a cold air induction kit and a remap.

Not really, from experince unmodified cars e.g. Subarus with them fitted run like crap. The car ****s itself of the air in the system inbetween gear changes or coming off throttle and the boost has to build again.

As I said above if you really want the sound run slightly VTA with an adjustable valve and/or get more of a snarl from a decent air intake system.

IMHO.

You need to calm down mate, it's becoming an obsession with you, and if not careful you could end up needing psychiatric treatment.

People have been playing with these things for year’s, just let them get on with it.

He's right though. Maf based ecus don't take kindly to VTA dump valves. The car will need setting up for it.

Tell him to use the search button and we can keep Galaxy's blood pressure to a minimum.

The 2.5 has a hard enough time staying in one piece as it is, adding a chav valve into the mix is mechanical suicide. ......

Lol....

I've already started writing letters to Cameron about these dump valves.

If I don't get a reply then pretty soon I'll be taking hostages and bumping one of them off each time we get a new VTA dump valve thread!

I am trying to help these OP's no matter how misguided they may be as we have proven that they can be turned round, just look at Tubster!

It is a shame really as not everyone can be, we still have sticker chodes and JDM bummers in abundance

The amount of bloody dump valve threads is getting ridiculous. Maybe that tells us where the brand has unfortunately ended up.

Nah it's misinformed types.

I was told by someone up here in the North West shortly after I bought my Spec D that I should "buy a dump valve as it'll increase the power under load". That was in 2008.

Cars do invariably end up in the wrong hands but to be honest with you, that keeps the badly modded Subaru club and the Barryboys entertaining
