Default Boot Lock Replacement

Plan to swap my boot lid tomorrow with new spoiler, have to change the lock barrel over, from some light reading its unclear that the c clip that holds the lock in place is one use item?
Is this correct or can it be re used?
Anyone swapped there barrel and know the correct way with out loosing skin or temper!
It's the round barrel

Cheers.

As above, the c clip can be used again.
Its a very easy job, I used a flat headed screwdriver to slide it off.
