Default what model

Hi Guys
Is there anywhere I can look to see what model an impreza is?
for instance I rang about an sti but it seems to cheap to be a "real" one, ive also rang about an wrx sti ra and that seemed too cheap for what it is.

On the vin plate you'll find a 7 digit model code beginning with GC8----.

Use this link to determine which model it is by matching the code.
http://www.type-ra.com/what-model-is-my-impreza/

Alternatively just post up a link and let us have a look.

Ask the seller for the VIN or whack the links up here to them.
We can then have a 3 page argument about them.

At a quick glance both look ok. The RA looks genuine to me (Although someone like matty is an expert in these things). Has the seller got the receipts for the rebuild?. Matty will be along in a minute once he has got off the phone to the RA owner
Full P1 look on the STI? Apart from it's white and has 4 doors lol.

Yes mate, it's a done deal.

The white sti looks nice though, better be quick or that'll be gone too.

The blue car looks like a sti V2 555. You can see the electric aerial on the back and rear wiper, ra didn't have these. It does look a half decent car and not too badly priced. The seller hasn't mentioned mapping in the advert which is a concern.

The second car has the later sti seats fitted, the expensive sti badges are missing from the front wings and the original sti strut brace is also missing. I think its a wrx with a few bits added.

Out of the two, the first car is the better one. However, if he says its not been mapped I'd steer clear.

Got to agree with Matty, first one looks like one of the limited edition cars, a limited maybe but not an RA, its the wrong colour to start with.
White one.... hard to make out what it is meant to be, but both have the incorrect bumpers so could be accident damaged, white one has a full face lift to a phase 2 car.

Best thing to do, give the sellers a ring and ask for the applied model codes from the vin plate. At least then you'll know exactly what you're dealing with and maybe give you something to haggle the price with.

Unfortunately you're right buddy, vin is from a sti3.

I'd love an early A series ra but as you know, original unmolested cars are very rare. I did see a pic of a lovely very early example a few weeks ago on here, may of been Nathans but not sure.

Don't just rely on the applied code. You need to consider the option code also.
D4ED could be sti 3 or sti 3 555 v - limited Big difference in price.

Ill drag a link up shortly with all the applied and option codes !!
