Default Bridgestone re070 in the winter?

My front tyres on my blobeye wrx sti will need to be changed in winter. Currently fronts are Re070 and rears are S001 Bridestone.

Has anyone ran Re70 all round in winter without any problems, such as under steer and lack of control, as these tyres are summer semi slicks?

Regards.

I can't imagine they'd be too cleaver! I don't like mine in the damp. Once they've got some heat in them there a different tyre.

They aren't very good if there's a decent amount of snow about.

P.S. I ran Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas on mine in the cold/wet.

Why risk it mate?

I had Potenza re070 on my blob sti they are an ok summer tyre, not the best even in the dry imho

Get a set of winter wheels and dedicated snow tyres!! It will cost a lot less than repairing a bump or even worse case a right off

If you have not got DCCD forget it, I ran mine in the snow on my old car and it was great fun once the dccd was locked but wind it back and it just wanted to do donuts

Hi.
Winter = winter tyres !!!

Budget winter tyre will be MUCH better than BEST summer rubber.
Winter tyres are made from different compound (very soft) compared to summer ones.
And the other way round, winter tyres in summer conditions are ABSOLUTELY crap !

I use winter tyres but changed them a little early this year and got caught with re070 in the snow, no comparison at all, I quickly changed them back. Never got stuck but had a lot of difficulty with traction and braking compared to my winter tyres, in fact only real way to get the re070 to work was by locking centre diff and sliding about. Good for sideways action but not safe when other traffic about.

I had them on the spec d over winter. As long as you drive to the conditions there fine, dccd really helped though. I was worried but I got every where with it.

Great summer tyre, been using them since 2004, just don't run them in snow, one touch on the brake will show you why, I now have a dedicated set of winter tyres for that on the spec c

I'd be very interested as to why you think they're just an OK tyre.

Personally I found them to be absolutely fantastic in the dry.
They were pretty good in the wet too, just not so good when it was dampy or greasy

Definitely wouldn't want to show those tyres any winter conditions

I agree totally - apart from the 'tramlining' - and I have run them in the winter in the early years of having the car, and you're correct, not good in winter
