Any reason why you're after the unloved WRX hatch?

I'd recommend going for an STi with a decent history and warranty.

Always a good idea to keep a credit card handy on any car with a standard 2.5 engine out of warranty too...

ye thought about that but i'm a bit long in the tooth for the beasts with the big spoiler. thought the hatch would give me the same performance as the loved saloon did without it being a bit too young for me m8. little bit more converservative.

I don't think the back of the STi looks like it has a massive spoiler, but I do think the WRX generally looks a bit unfinished with the narrow arches.

WRX rear

My STi rear

I'll try and find some pics from the front to show the arches...

Yes a newage car is in budget as some have suggested but let's get real here, the hatch car is newer, faster and more capable. It's also a nicer car to be in and I think that is why the OP is considering one.

The OP could do one hell of a lot worse than this car, definitely a better car than the WRX. I am surprised this car was not marketed as the WRX in this country, it even has lower emissions than our 2.5 WRX.

But my money would go on an STi, that 330s with the forged connecting rods and pistons is a very nice car indeed.

As we all know, forged 2.5s are outstanding engines.

If you want a car in a hurry I'd be trying to choose between that S-GT and the forged 330S.

It is an incredible market for buyers with a budget of £10-15k at the moment.

Ye m8 it does but the only thing that puts me off is the mileage. Should I be worried, its got all Subaru service history & an excellent 12 month RAC warranty to boot. Phoned the owner of the garage & he swears by it, absolutely spotless he reckons. Blue is better but this looks nice.

That S-GT hatch is blue and a far better car. Worth considering!

Got a wrx-s in my work for sale at the moment, Ignore the wheels as it has gold GT1's on it now as the originals were cracked so took them off due to safety implications.

Ah yeah, didn't notice the mileage, my additude differs in someway than alot of people, I have bought so many cars with like 30 - 40k and the clock and had endless problems

So I kind of look at cars above 60k now and think if they had any major problems they would have been sorted.

But I think I'm one of the few that thinks that!

I really do prefer the black in the hatch, but if that's the color your want, hold out not sure why your not fancing that JDM above though?

If your trying a WRX'S with the std sliding caliper brakes, use them a few times, then wonder why after that it won't stop, there horrendous.

Sorry I missed this earlier.

Imo you're right to consider the mileage.

It's very close to 75K and 5 years, so cambelt change is due (that's right isn't it?) but the blurb doesn't say it's been done.

Also, 71k, a 'detailed Subaru Service History' which includes 4 stamps.
Again, someone correct me if I'm wrong but surely it should be more than that?

And, trying to be a 'critical friend' is the 12 month RAC warranty a good way of putting a customer's mind at ease?
It won't cover damage due to failure to replace cambelt, that's for sure.

Questions to be asked of the dealer I suggest.

Googled 'Subaru WRX S hatch' and there's a few ads from late July-mid August, so if the cars haven't gone you might have a bargaining tool.

Here's one:

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/used-car...01304236413826

It's in Glasgow.

There's another in Ayr.

The one in Swansea has gone.

Gumtree's just recently had this ad inserted:

http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-m...-uk/1030410775

That's in Scotland as well though.

Good luck hunting.

Far be it from me to tell you what to buy, but the s gt is completely superior in every dept.
You may also not be aware, but motors s gt used to build F! engines, that powered McLarens.
I suggest, you will not find a better cared for example of a motor car.
