Default Buying a 1996 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX-STI PRODRIVE V-LIMITED

Hi as title looking to pick this Subaru tomorrow after a test drive today.

It has a lot of work done to it and it is a real v-limited as I checked the VIN

What I have a little concern is it boost to 20psi soon as it gets to around 5500-6000 rpm the engine seems to stop the hard acceleration like the ecu is cutting it off. the engine don't cut out and the temps seem fine no black smoke under boost.

Can anyone suggest why this is? it does have a boost controller under bonnet that is turned out 10 clicks from fully closed.

also anything else to look out for before I commit to buy ?

thanks for your time

Gary

Firstly, as above no such car. And the model code on the vin plate won't determine its a v limited as they share the same code as a normal sti.
Secondly, its got a cheap manual boost controller turned up way to high.

Wouldn't interest me in the slightest.

Not sure buddy, but I have seen all sorts on log books. Very common for dvla to make mistakes on imports.

Stick a link up to the advert fella.

Sounds like fuel cut, over boosting......which is hardly surprising if its hitting 20psi.

They are all money pits just some more than others......From the off the car has an over boosting issue, if left it will go bang! If you like the car take someone with you who knows these cars or take a gamble or walk away and try and find something else.

I'll be blunt......IMO, it looks ****!

Walk away as has been said. Its had bigger injectors and a front mount fitted and hasn't been set up properly for them. Ticking time bomb.

Is the look not correct for the limited edition?? or is that an after market thing.

Also it does have the closed block which is a good thing I read.

the boost controller must be open to much as it's 10 turns out that could be turned right in or removed.

is there any links that I can read up on regarding the issues or what to look for??

thanks for all your help thus for.
