Both will do it, just depends whether or not you want twin scroll.
TBH mate you'll save yourself a **** load of money if you just go for around the 400/420bhp mark, because after that the law of diminishing returns applies and your into a whole different ball park cost wise when going for 500bhp.

Road car used 3-4 times a week. I'm not chasing big figures just want a newage that is as quick as my classic running 350/350 and wanted the best base for this and general opinion seems to be that in order to achive this a newage must have around 100bhp more or is that wrong?

New age will never feel like a classic no matter how much power you put through it.
You will be able to drive the new age faster on the road but it won't "feel" faster because they are more stable and planted, also nowhere near as much of a seat of the pants driving experience.
My Type r is slower on the road than my WRX Wagon PPP, and the Type r has a 60bhp advantage, but is much more of a hand full than the wagon and truth be told you can't give it maximum attack unless your on the track, sure it will out squirt the WRX in a straight line on a smooth road but get it wrong and it bites back, the new ages are way more forgiving and a lot easier to go fast in.
You'll have to completely strip all sound deadening and seats fit fibre glass doors and plastic windows, remove aircon and abs and you might get somewhere close to "feeling" like a classic.
The main point being 50bhp advantage will be enough to stay with a classic unless it's being driven by the stig and i'd wager if you were in front you'd be staying there unless he had a hawk 6 speed and 500bhp +
Two totally different cars.
Those that have had big power in both recon 450bhp in a new age is all you'll ever need, and i'd say 400/420 will do the same job for a lot less money.
