Default I suppose i best introduce the car

Be been a member on here for years now had a turbo 2000 back in 2009/2010 but then due to petrol tankers being on standby and my wallet hiding everytime I drove past a petrol station I sold it. WORST MISTAKE EVER had many form of transport since from a normal 1.6 c3 to a motorcycle for a year to a 328i m sport well two weeks ago I got another turbo 2000 it drinks just as much as I remember and I'm loving every minute. It's for a pro drive rear spoiler and exhaust and an sti front brake upgrade

Few questions as I've been out the loop and knowledge base for a while.

Can my turbo 2000 w reg be remapped without a new ecu been quoted 660£ for a remap which seems steep if I don't need an actual ecu.

When I dip the clutch when shifting the revs jump up a few hundred rpm my old one did this so I'm thinking it's just a characteristic.

She seems to stutter sometimes when putting my foot down nothing major it's only just about noticeable.

And here she is.

My knowledge of classics just about fits onto the back of a postage stamp with a felt tip pen.

But I think that is a nice looking car, unmolested and hopefully as tidy underneath as it looks on the outside

In the last six years I've been without a Subaru once, I managed barely four months!

As far as I know, 1999 onwards car be remapped.

£660 seems a bit steep though.
I would have though £500 + VAT.
£150 of that has to go to ECUTEK as a license fee(one off cost)

Ecutek is usually £550+vat so yep, £660.

Its a rip off though imo, the licence is £150 and mapping is usually £300 so the toatal price should be £450 +vat. Obviously if you need to rent a dyno or pay for the mappers travel then thats on top.
At £660 you're into the realms of aftermarket ecu's that can offer alot more than ecutek.

For what its worth, the license is a one off payment - should you ever remap again, you only pay the mapping cost.

Exclamation EcuLabs mapping for the MY99 and MY00 Impreza

Not true. EcuLabs has been available for a few years now though originating in France hasn't gained the exposure it so deserves, in time this will change as the number of cars here in the UK running it is growing

Full details can be viewed following this link.............

...................but as a quick list of some of EcuLabs standard features:-
  • Live mapping
  • Gear based boost control
  • Active Knock control with CEL flashing on knock or overheating
As cost options you can add:-
  • Full Throttle Shifiting/Launch Control
  • Multi maps
  • Flex Fuel Sensor support
  • Speed Density mapping
If you have the appropriate cable and the knowledge this is available from just £205+vat to map yourself, to have us map it starts from £340+vat

A quick video of EcuLabs in action.............

I was aware that a french company offered software but the last I heard it wasn't that great and was a similar price to ecutek.

The problem is that most want to use a proven method that is well known rather than save a few quid on an unknown quantity.
Are the big names in the uk subaru circle using this french software ??

The calipers on your car have been painted. Classic STI came with the same brakes as any other classic. The newage sti cars had larger gold brembo calipers. Yours look like the brembos but have been painted black with a sti logo.

They look like the calipers of the 2008 onwards STI's.
My 330S calipers were like that.
