buying new car tomorrow - HPI ALERT ????
going to see a car tomorrow and did a hpi check on her and this came up -
The current plate was transferred to this vehicle on 01/12/2010
L13GAL was applied to this vehicle on 30/04/2010
This VRM has been recorded as having an outstanding finance agreement
An outstanding finance agreement was recorded on 26/01/2013 against a QASHQAI2 20TEKNA5D4WDCV
BW52PGV was applied to this vehicle on 13/07/2005
There are no interests recorded against BW52PGV
the plate on the car is bw52 pgv, so what does this mean???

This looks similar to a check I did a few years ago, the plate was transferred off the car you are buying and the car it currently sits on has outstanding finance. The hpi check plate and car. You need to phone them as they will confirm if I am correct over the phone, but you must contact them for the warranty from hpi to be valid.

Is it a trade sale or a private sale?
This isn't unusual at all, HOWEVER if you have paid for a decent HPI you will be present the company details and ref for the finance. Give them a call to ensure they have no more interest in the car. Unfortunately you probably are not going to be able to do that till Monday.
Whilst its not uncommon I would certainly not put any money down till I had it confirmed.
I suppose you could go look at it, check everything else and see if the car is for you. if it is WAIT, check on Monday and then you can do a deal?
I would guess its a log book loan TBH as very few major lenders will finance a car over 10 years of age.

The HPI check should give you the vehicle VIN number within its info?

This is an area people should be very vigilant in though, you have done right by doing the HPI, and it would be silly to do the check and then ignore it! Just want to make the point, from what you have told me its likely its just an interest that hasn't been removed, but you MUST check that before handing over any hard earned!
The HPI should include VIN number and last change of keeper depending I guess on which level you chose?
My bigger concern here is why the seller isn't wanting to give you the chassis number?? that one does seem strange!

Good luck with the search

Right hold on look at the big picture, your gonna look at a car your not entirely happy about because you only have one day to buy a car? Will the world end if you don't buy a car? I think not! Buy right, buy once!

I wouldn't worry Blob Wagons look crap in white.
As for not wanting to give the chassis no, I don't blame the seller, far too many scammers about, I know if I were selling a car I would not be giving all the details out ***** nilly over the phone to someone who may or may not buy the car, come look at it in person and you can write it down when I know your not some dodgy African gypsy from Bradford.
Last car I bought was in a mad rush and had to have it, still got £100 off the price and it's been great for 50k miles.

ok im back from my road trip, ok i havnt had the car i wanted as i wasnt going to drive 5 hours to look at the car and then walk away,
went to bristol instead to get a car, black bug estate, it was my second choice and my god i did the right decision, he advertised it as standard with a 4inch back box, so my hopes were ok untill i saw the car and the folder of invoices,
so for £1900 i got a bug (which i wanted) PPP, sti engine, sti topmount, 3inch milteck exhaust system, tints, fully loaded interior, remapped at over 300bhp with dyno print, and endless ammount of invoices. oh yeah and full dealer service.
the 5 hour trip back was great.
very happy indeed

The finance outstanding has nothing to do with the Subaru. It's against a Qashqai that used to have the same plate.
