Default The BRZ Receives 280-BHP!

What do you guys think of the BRZ Spec S? I wrote a piece on my blog HERE and really like the stats.

Would you have one over an Impreza or do you prefer the turbo power?

I've always liked the look but the lack of power was the ultimate factor in thinking not for me. More power makes that more of a car you think yeah that's one to tick off the list!

Hey it holds the Subaru logo so I say buy buy buy!!

£3,500 for the upgrade seems worth it to me

Annoyingly though bet they would do the same to the Toyota

looks good, been thinking about getting a BRZ, not sure I would want to spend the extra as I plan to keep my WRX for my fast car. Maybe a test drive is needed

From some of the reviews, I thought the car sounded underpowered and that if I bought one, it'd be when a more powerful version came out, but having been driven in a GT86 and experienced power oversteer at 30mph, I'd say power definitely isn't everything.

For sure, I'd miss the power (and the burble) of our WRX - not to mention the practicality - but it felt fast enough and with such entertainment available at less than death defying speeds, I'd say the standard BRZ has a lot going for it.

Their customer service is superb in comparison.

And why has someone posted up a photograph of the interior of the CS400?

I'm pretty sure the £3,500 price tag is not inc fitting though.

I know I am biased, but I would have to disagree about the residuals. So far they are much higher on the BRZ than the GT86, we recently took a GT86 in part-ex and unless it had leather I could not even get a dealer to underwrite it.

The price is including fitting, but excluding VAT

I bet at 280bhp with RWD its still great fun to drive. The wife had a 192bhp RX8 for a while and that was great fun!

Toyota every time. Subaru have burnt too many bridges over recent years. Now of course they will pay the price.

Same here, and I'd say the same goes for an awful lot of 2.5 owners that may have fallen foul of engine woes.

I've heard this about GT86 residuals as well. Something to do with the dealer contributions paid on the Toyota's mean they are not fetching the values originally hoped.

Interesting that someone was trading in a GT86 already? What did they swap it for?

I've taken one in on a WRX STi, and a guy who was looking to trade one in, but he ended up selling it privately, he bought a BRZ as he preferred the handling over the GT86.

There's an STi version of the BRZ on the STi website, It's all in Japanese though so I don't know much about it. The pictures of it look good though, especially with the carbon wing:-

This one still runs the same engine and power output, they have just added the rear wing, front splitter and a few other bits and pieces. They call it the BRZ TS modified by STi, not a full-blown STi version.

Second hand E46 M3 and a wad of cash to run it for the next few years is still the way i'd go... Surely this kit is only going to invalidate your warranty anyway!

Oh well, shame it doesn't have the power to match the styling. I bet you'd pay loads extra for those few parts aswell.

No prices have been confirmed yet, but I hear its about £5k more than the standard car, but you can only get one in Japan, and I think they are just doing a limited run of 250.

Wink

I went out at Trax in a std BRZ with Ben Shimmen from crossroads.

Once the back end was out, any throttle correction to balance the drift it didn't have enough guts to get the wheels spinning again. The road suspension was also VERY soft. The potential was there.

It really needs suspension tweak. The other BRZ had a handling and performance packs. Iirc Miltek, remap 240 BHP ish and AST. Difference was much better and didn't seem to spoil the ride quality.

I'd have loved to try the BRZ S from litcho's but it's always been out when I was there.

I dont see the fasination with the BRZ personally. It looks nice, but erm.... I think thats it!

It boasts about as much power as a 15 year old Impreza, and although RWD might appeal to some, but at sub 280 bhp I do not see the fascination with this RWD car at all.

Maybe I need to see one in the flesh, as at the moment it appeals to be about as much a fortnight in Egypt!
