Found a clip on the garage floor, can someone identify?
Hey my brother just found this clip on the garage floor, I'm in work so can't look at the car, there was a rattle noise coming from the front left but it went away, I was gonna look into it after work today and it looks like this clip might be suspect, the garage I bought the car from fitted new front brake pads and front anti roll bar bushes, any help appreciated.

Are you sure that it even belongs to your car?...
I have been stripping Subaru Impreza Turbo's down to their bare nuts n bolts & then re-building them as rally/race cars for many a year now & I have never seen a spring like that fitted to any of them.
Considering it's size, it is relatively thick & quite substantial, needing a fair amount of force to operate it. It looks like something that would be used for returning a component under a relatively heavy load back to it's original position after it has been operated.
As has been said, It is way too thick and strong to be anything to do with holding a bulb in place (bulb retainers are normally the thickness of a paperclip & much smaller). You can also discount it being a brake pad retaining spring, as none that I have ever seen in my 27 years experience within the motor trade & motorsport look anything like that. Not only is it the wrong shape it is also way too substantial for the purpose of holding a brake pad into the caliper.
I don't know where it came from, but I would surmise that it was not a part of your car.

I've seen something like that before but my memory is useless at its best. Is it part of the seat mechanism Or a heavy swing panel retaining clip
But looks like one of those tool holders off a metal tool board (with all the holes in it. )

Thanks for the replies guys, sorry I havent been on here.
There is a chance, as you say PeeVee, that it does not belong to the car and Im starting to think that is the case. I have driven it since the post and there is absolutly nothing out of the ordinary and the noise I had from the front has ceased.
The situation was that the garage was clean before my car went into it and then after I took it out my brother found that clip on the floor so we just assumed it had come off my car, but it could have come from anywhere I guess.
Thanks for all the help guys you've been great
Stuart.
