Only ever used thhe short stay parking at Gatwick. Personally I would leave the car at home and fork out the money for a cab. Do you know anyone who would take you there for a few quid? I have to say you are a braver man than I Gunga Din!!

I've left my P1 in a few airport car parks now with no problem (Gatwick included). I use the long term car parks where you take the exit ticket away with you. I also ring Trackstar and tell them I'll be out of the country so they can monitor the car closer and know that if it moves, it's not me driving it.

Also, have a look in your manual. In the fusebox above the drivers footwell, change the ignition fuse for one you've drilled through to break the contact. Because the drilled out fuse is in place, a would be theif would struggle to figure out why the car won't start.

Finally, empty the car of anything valuable and fit a disklok.

Lastly, fly off and enjoy your trip.

I agree with the last posting - have left my MY98 at Heathrow, Gatwick, Stanstead and Southampton long stay with no problems. Just be sensible, park under lights and if you have Tracker let them know that the car should stay stationary for the period you are away.

...or course, if you do take a cab, *don't* tell the driver that you are away on holiday for two weeks and you are leaving the house empty with the car in the garage!!!!!!!

I tend to use secure off airport parking at Gatwick. It does mean that someone else parks it for me but also means that some idiot just back from spain can't hit it with his/her case and dent it.

I always make sure that they examine the car before I leave and that they have insurance to cover any damage whilst its in their care.
I probably ought to note the mileage.

No problems so far....

I left mine at Gatwick last June. I paid extra for secure car parking, but when I arrived to park it they said carpark was full and I had to go to an averflow park.

Wasn't too happy really but did it anyway. When I got to the overflow, we had to leave the keys in ignition until the secure park emptied a bit and they said they would drive it over there ready for when we came back. By this time I was extremly unhappy about leaving my car with keys in it, plus some young kid thrashing my car when taking it to other park.

Anyway I had a good look around the car before I left it and went.

Came back 2 weeks later, thankfully everything was ok.

Can't remember who I used but last year I got an off site secured space. A guy met me at departures and took the car away and parked it, then brought it back when I arrived.

I was a bit concerned about giving away the keys but had no problems (he was about 50, not some kid!) and the convenience factor was lovely

This year I'll have to hire a car as all the luggage won't go in the boot!
