Default How many people have a truly 'mint' car

Hi All.

Looking through the gallery on here you see alot of very nice, clean looking examples.
Now i have just had 15 dents taken out of mine and its looking really really good, i'm really happy with it, but its not 'mint'
My problem is i'm a perfectionist and want my car to look brand spanking new, but the reality is its a 2005 car and my daily driver.

So how many of you out there have a truly 'mint' car?

Pictures don't always show a cars imperfections.

Dan.

Have a look here:

I'm hoping to get mine up to near mint over the coming few months, but it will be off the road over the winter so doesn't have to cope with the salt.

Mine is totally dent and scratch free, also gets machine polished to keep on top of swirls.

Only thing spoiling it is a speck of rust by the windscreen which for now is hidden by the rubber seal but needs screen out in spring for a fix.

Also 2005

I consider my JDM pretty clean, cleaner than most. It's not "garaged all the time" car either and gets driven (almost) every weekend and the odd short trip during the week.

There are not many at all that are truly mint. Check SilverScoobySport (S.S.S.) thread about his V1 rebuild. That is truly mint.

I consider mine quite mint, but it's not a daily driver, so not sure if it's fair to include mine, but it doesn't say it has to be daily driven either.

Some pictures of mine is shown in the link from Osimabu.

Your defiantly fighting a losing battle trying to keep a daily in concourse condition, like tubby says cars are meant for driving, nothing wrong with keeping it clean and in good working order though. Enjoy your car and don't worry about everything been perfect all the time, you'll go insane

Mine is factory mint as it's pretty much new. Will be kept and maintained that way.

Was run daily while running in but now very much my weekend car. I just don't want to stick unnecessary miles on it when I've got a better one for daily useage.

The arena at the Nbo is unbelievable

Took the judges to a new level deciding who won the trophies

Interesting how the classics are getting rare and hundreds is spent on making
Them mint

I must be mad and contemplating spending Ł3000 on a classic worth
Half that

Oh I agree tubby it is a jap ****box and not a ferrari, but non the less it is mine and I want it to be as nice as possible, within the realms of a daily driver any way.... its just annoying to have a nice car and only see the defects lol.

Its driven like its meant to be and is alot of fun... I wonder how long bubble wrap would stay on the car lol

My car is in pretty good condition for an 11 year old car, it's got a couple of minor marks on it but nothing serious at all.

These are going to be taken care of shortly, the engine bay is better than when it left the showroom, the interior is in brilliant condition except for the HVAC / radio trim panel and again that is going to be renewed or refinished.

Unless a car has seen so little use or has been in a bubble since it left the factory you aren't going to get a 'mint' car, also define what you mean by 'mint' as in the condition it left the showroom or as the result of overhauling / restoration.

I agree with Tubby. Cars are meant to be driven. I,ve had 5 imprezas and all of them have been daily drivers. Steve

Unhappy

I wish mine was as mint as some if the cars on here. It most take up some much time to keep a car truly mint. They seem easy to scratch and doesn't help when ***** open their doors onto mine.

I would like to think mine is up to a reasonable standard and it gets driven on a regular basis.when it gets washed i notice things that could be improved,it seems never ending.
Hats off to the people who have got their cars up to concours standard.

True.
I knew a lad with a white concourse 3dr, he won comps with it, but would literally get the underside resprayed when it got dirty!

Mine is not mint at all.
It's in good condition for a 14yr old car, and *touch wood* is not suffering any visable rust issues.
But, it's got about 6/7 dents on it from doors being opened into it, has a scratch down 3 panals on the passenger side, and alloys are minging! The door cards in the back have had something dig into the plastic, but that was before I got it. I don't that so much, I kind of like that its obviously just been used like a normal daily car, which is what it is for me.
The dents and scratch really annoys me though because I would like it to look mint, who wouldn't, but I'd rather it have a few cosmetic issues than serious rust or mechanical problems.

Mine was, due to the previous owner.

Then ´daily driving´ it ie. on an arterial road between the hours of 9 and 5, got it scatter-gunned due to road resurfacing.

Bodski will sort it in the New Year though !

It really depends what you mean by mint! It is nigh on impossible to keep a car that is actually used daily looking like showroom, but even a car that is only used occasionally is a challenge due to where dirt gets to etc.

Last year I bought an AMG that I intended to use for a weekend fun car, but it got vandal damaged in May and I then decided to make it as close to mint as I could.

As such it has so far had the following:

Full respray
New front/rear bumpers
New grilles
New bumper meshes
New heat exchanger
New driving lights
New wheel arch liners
Carbon fibre diffuser
Custom exhaust
New boot compartment divider and trim
New AMG IV split rim wheels
Engine clean and detail

Still to do:

Interior trim carbon fibre upgrade
Caliper refurb and paint

When the bumpers/trim panels/skirts were off every part of the car behind them was cleaned, protected and polished.

The car is staring to look 'mint' but how much further I go is debatable as I don't want to not be able to use it and it will never appreciate in value like a classic! I also don't want to become a slave to cleaning it.

I bought mine in march this year and traveled down to kent to look at it, when it got there it was snowing and the car was absolutely filthy.

i bought it anyway, and upon cleaning the next day found loads of little dints all over it, even on the edge of the roof etc, then it dawned on me that it had been parked up under trees for a while as the scuttle was filled with ****/leaves etc and its had some paint work that isnt the best.

i have mopped it and cleaned it us as best as i can, but tbh its a daily, its not mint, so it gets used properly lol

You can still have a everyday car and still keep it mint/clean. I look after every car I own, My scooby gets cleaned pretty much every Sunday, it gets serviced on time, and I make sure I dont park my car near others when shopping to avoid car park dents, and I dont eat/smoke in the car or let others!!!

I don't get cleaning cars, personally.

Drive them instead and give them a wash a couple of times a year IMO.
