Noob with a Scoob
Well I've been on here a while now and haven't actually introduced myself.
So I'm Jon and I recently bought a V9 (Widetrack) STi in Gray. Its currently standard at the minute but it does benefit from the PPP pack and full leather STi interior, so a few pics
Sorry there not the best pics atm but due to the wonderful British weather I've not been able to get any more yet
So hi to you all and I'm sure over the time I own the scoob I'll require some guidance and knowledge from you all, so be gentle I'm new to the world of scooby's, lol!

That's nice, I had a 55 plate widetrack and loved every minute of it, no leather seats though. Swapped it for a 530d which lasted about 6 months before I was back in a scoob. Welcome to SN. Andy

Cheers tbh I wasn't sure on the leather when I bought it but it's growing on me everytime I get in the car, lol! As I said its in standard form at the minute but there are a few things I would like to do to it. First the standard radio has to go as it's terrable, lol! Been looking at the double din sat navs? Also I was tempted to a HKS BOV as when I was lookin for a scooby a tested one with one on and it did sound nice. But tbh I think I'd tire of the noise very quickly and reading about I've heard it can damage the engine???

Never seen those seats before, very nice. My Spec D has leather, perforated but all black not coloured.
I treat mine twice a year to a gentle clean with AutoGlym leather cream. Good stuff, low / no odour and keeps the leather clean and supple.

Thanks for the tip on cleaning them as I think they deffo could do with a good clean esp the drivers one.

HKS and forge are some of the best names. i had a forge one fitted (was on when i bought it) but now i have the std recirc valve. i still like the noise, but i prefer the performance of the recirc, i'd never go back to VTA

Prefer the sleeper look that's how come I went for Gray over Blue and other colours so it doesn't stand out as much

The widetrack refers to the model no i.e mine is a version 9, there are lots if differences from the version 8 (they look pritty much the same on the outside) but the 9 comes with variable diff control slightly wider track, arch trims on the back with bumper to match. Also it comes with the upgraded dash transferred onto the later "hawk" v10. I'm also led to beleive a stronger 2.0 engine over the 8 and better than the head gasket failing 2.5 from the v10. But if I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me, lol!
PPP is prodrive performance pack fitted by subaru, all I can see on the car is the exhaust air filter and a remapped ecu to allegedly 305hp up from 265 standard but again I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong ha ha!
Hope this helps

I do like the hawk but the engine failures and dearer tax bracket put me off (£538 per year) mines £280 but yeh really enjoying driving it at the min wondering in what direction to take it, looks or power, lol!
What you got a v8 STi?

I've got the 9, too. but pre- DCCD.
If I were you, I'll keep it standard ( I bought mine heavily modified, and it's harder to mend because you cant just check online or ask a OEM mechanic, etc...)
Those 2 liter engines were very strong and durable. It's worth keeping as is.

Welcome mate, nice motor too.
To put things right, there is no such thing as a Version 9. It's a Facelift Newage Widetrack STi. Infact it would be a Rev F as it's a 2005 car. They stopped the "Version" after the MY2000/Version 6 cars.
God choice with the DV and seats.

On the subject how come some use the term "MY" with the year after? :/
The seats are a nice addative and I don't know if I've ever seen them in a scoob before but I could be wrong and the DV is the standard recirc, no chavvey VTA OEM all the way

Very nice, love this colour, from what I've heard these are a very good car straight out of the box. Mods wise imo I'd say get some miles under the wheels before you do anything, get to know the car and learn the areas where you personally feel improvements can be made based on the type of driving you do. As a road car the standard spec really should be more than enough for most people unless your a seriously handy driver, it's very easy to not give it enough thought and put some mods on a car that actually make for a backwards step. Even a simple thing like a remap whilst offering more performance can highlight weaknesses in other areas that can cause a negative effect on the overall enjoyment of the car.
Anyway, welcome and enjoy :-)

I agree it's a very capable car and plenty enough for road use
I'm not a MOD happy type of person and would alway try and replace any parts with OEM bits unless the replacement was a nesacery upgrade part. I would rather spend the money keeping it mint OEM than modding it to death with big power and performance parts. Maybe it's just me that has a thing for leaving things as intended but I suppose everyone's different.
