Best liquid gasket to use
I'm rebuilding a Subaru engine (EZ30D for Tribeca) because of overheat related head gasket failure. There are loads are parts that need to be assembled with liquid gasket. Subaru advise using Threebond 1280b. This seems to be almost impossible to get and may have been superseded by Threebond 1215 which is more readily available. I worry that if I choose the wrong product then I'll have oil leaks everywhere.
Anybody got any experience?

RCM recommended me the 1215 for the engine parts that need liquid gasket. I've replaced the liquid gasket of my JDM STi sump pan with it and have had no issues at all.
Now it is time to rebuild my USDM WRX engine and the 1215 is what I'm going to use again.
cheers

I always used Threebond 1215, It has been the factory approved sealant used for many years on the Subaru engines & works extremely well... Be careful not to use too much though!...
You will be shocked by just how little you need of this stuff.. Remember, you're not icing a cake & you are not trying to fill big gaps between the mating surfaces. The factory don't fit a gasket for a reason, as there is almost no need for one. The parts have already been machined to be an almost perfect fit.

Thanks. So one 250g tube from this site will do the job?

Or am I better off with the can?
