When you import a car fro Japan do they fit a new vin plate ?
Been looking at a car for someone and the modal code does not ad up the the modal it is and the engine and gearbox code add up to the modal stamped into the vin plate not to the modal it's meant to be on ( does that make sence) on the v5 it says engine number not known and has it a a GL - I know a lot of imports say that but this is meant to be a 22b. Was wondering if someone has just put the wrong info on the plate !

You cant change the vin but can change the v5.
Vin isnt touched during import process . . tends to be errors in registration when producing v5's. In my own experience a few imports ive owned have had little to no info on the v5. An old starlet of mine said 'toyota' and then model was listed as 'white'
