Default Which gear oil is best for the type r dccd gearbox ?

I think its time i changed the gear oil and rear diff oil in my 1996/97 type r.
Its running 380 brake 350 ish torque so i want to put the best stuff in it. Which is the best oil for the gearbox? also would it be the same oil to go in the rear diff ? Cheers.

Although not running anywhere near your power/torque I use Castrol Syntrax 75W90 and pretty sure the rear diff was the same rated oil but not Castrol

Depends who told you
I've used that particular gear/rear diff oil for the last 12 years in my Imprezas (93WRX and now 98 Type R) and they've been fine.

pm Oilman on here as he either owns or works for http://www.opieoils.co.uk/ see what he says.

oh and to answer the OP's question then you definatley require an LSD specific rear diff oil and a high quality gear oil for the box

as to exact spec like all things a lot depends on the exact use/abuse you put your car to but the full synthetic gear oils from Millers and Motul take some beating and offer superior protection in our experience
