need advice, how bigs too big (front brakes)
Hey all! Im looking into getting new front brake set-up for my 320bhp which hopefully is soon to be 400bhp 2004 wrx. The 294mm discs with subaru 4pots give me fade after one very heavy stop (tried various pads & discs) Some manufacturers do 300mm upto 400mm discs with 4,6 or 8 piston calipers. Dont want gold brembo 4pots with 330mm discs because think they would probably fade too. What im asking is how big a disc and how many pistons in caliper can go without changing rear brakes and affecting bias. I want the 400s I have 18" wheels

Hi there
Brembo combination with right discs and pads can be great upgrade and they will no fade with right discs and pads combo
I would suggest you speak with Alyn@AS Performance about the options for Brembo
We are running 8 pots front with 356mm and 6pots rear with 330mm and think balance is perfect, some guys running 356mm with Brembo 2pots at rear and everything is fine
You can have 6 or 8 pots brakes, but if you are using wrong pads and wrong brake fluid, you can suffer same issue(brake fade) with 6/8 pots too
Due this I would recommend and suggest speak with Alyn@AS Performance

If it's a road car at 320bhp it would be fine with the RIGHT pad and disc combo.
I have AP 4pots godspeed discs and ds2500 pads which is more than enough for road and track use, but if I was doing track days I'd go for a track focused pad.
As above speak to Alyn @as performance or Ian @ godspeed brakes.

I think the k-sports (330mm) option is sensible value, and they are not unnecessarily heavy. I've ran other combos in the past, and I can definitely tell the weight difference over pot holes etc, where the car is noticeably less jittery over rough bits. They also fit under standard wheels.
However, having said that, I think there must be something wrong with your four pot setup if you get fade after one brake. What pads/discs combos have you tried, and have you got fresh fluid?

AP Racing CP5200 4 pots with 330mm discs will be a massive improvement over what you have, or if your budget can stretch to it
AP Racing CP7040 6 pots with 355 or 360mm discs.
you will be hard pressed to find a better price than here:

Without sounding rude I have to hear my knowledge from somewhere, like asking on here I thought all the big brakes fit under 18s? Dont want to change rear brakes really but dont want to mess braking system if thats possible by going too big on the front. 356 sounds ok,better than 330,how many pot caliper with 356 disc, does it make difference?

Have a look at the reyland link i posted, 330mm 4-pots
355 and over 6-pots.
But the AP's are far superior to ksport/d2/xyz and even the sti brembo's imo.
Having driven cars with the 330mm AP 4-pots the brakes were awesome, and the 6-pots were just brutal!
Yes they cost more... But there is a reason for that....

How much bhp do you think vf35 is capable of? My wastegate goes crazy bleeding the boost when on the loud pedal,I reckon it could easy create upto 2bar. How much bar/psi do you think 400bhp would need?

Why be offensive? Your right it is the first car I have ever had tuned but everyone's gotta start somewhere. I mearly told you my engine is strong and what mods it has and asked what kind of boost you think vf35 is capable of and how much would be needed for the kind of power im looking for

Boost is not what it needs mate, it need to flow more air, for example your vf35 will flow a certain amount of air at 1.5bar but a 20g will flow more at 1.5bar, turbos reach a certain point where they exceed their compressors efficiency , the air that is being forced in is warmed by compression and is not substantial enough in mass to overcome its temperature issue therefore you would see a very small gain in power but reduce the life of your turbo and engine
