Default Yorkshire new boy

Hi everyone, im Tom from West Yorkshire, im on the lookout for an impreza.

My funds range from £6500(finance) and £3500 cash price.

I have been searching a few weeks now but the range and variety of these cars range so much, it makes it hard to make a decision.

I have seen some decent blobeye wrx's(non sti) for around £5k, and some older shape typre r's for around 5k.

With my budget set in mind, what do you think is my best option? I am not very clued up on all imprezas, but my 1st choice would be a blobeye sti ppp and my 2nd choice would be a blobeye wrx ppp.

Would i be better off going for a blobeye sti with a max budget of 6.5k, or a mint older one?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Heres a few pics of my last three cars...

Stage 3 243bhp corsa vxr, bought in 2009 - sold in 2011...

Standard corsa vxr nurburgring 202 bhp, bought in 2011- sold in 2012...

Current car, clio 182, bought nov 2012...

This car is currently up for sale.

Any info would be great.

Nice forum by the way, regards... Tom

You'll get a nice STI for 6500

The 2005' ones fetch a bit more cash due to the nicer interior, wide rear track and some other bits and bobs but an 03/04 sti should be within scope.

Good luck, probably see you around some time!

Get an STi mate.

The WRX won't be much of a jump up in punch from a VXR, even if it'll eat it alive through bends.

£6500 is a good enough budget for an early Blobeye in good nick. You seem to be familiar with tuning having run a 240bhp VXR, you can make an STi very capable on quite a modest budget

This sounds very promising, I think you have persuaded me to go for the sti, i think i would be disappointed if i didnt.

The vxr was pretty decent in a straight line, but my 182 would walk around it in the bends.

This time around i am wanting something with the straight line speed as well as the cornering capabilities, plus the sti's do look very nice.

Thanks again for the input.

Night and day mate, the bilstein suspension works really well with the drexler lsd to make a very good handling car out of the box.

The standard one was lowered with a few other mods but it needed a diff, it used to understeer round every bend.

The burg edition felt more solid, it felt like a totally different car but the same car, it was weird.

The only let down was the exhaust tone, it was non existent, but i decided against tuning it as i didnt want to loose my 100k miles warranty.

If you are goint to get one, i would recommend the burg edition 1000% over the standard one.

Hello mate and welcome.

When you find one you're interested in put a link up. There's plenty on here who'll give it the once over and their opinion and any advice.

SN Member as well, so you could/should safely assume that the car's been looked after in current ownership (and anything wrong put right).
