Default Impreza S204 £16,000???

OK, dont get your hopes up!!!!

But browsing the used jap cars for sale and come across a S204 which works out at around £16,000(according to my currency converter)

Just wondering what you would end up paying with import tax and delivery etc, and everything else you would need to import a car like this??

I know a few of you on here have imported your own cars, So would be interesting to hear what you would pay with this car, delivered to your door, and road legal in the UK!!

Near enough £23k shipped, duties, registered, MOT'd and Taxed

My S202 wasn't cheap and was almost double what I paid at auction due to the shipping and taxes and of course shyte exchange rate

My S202 was easier to import as it's over 10 years old and just needs the MOT and registration. An S204 would need additional SVA test which I am unsure of the stringency or cost

Typically another 4k or so to have the car on the road in the UK via an importer.
Edited: it's become more expensive than I thought.

That S206 is a really nice motor. Would prefer one in white but beggars can't be choosers and all that...

Bolt on turbo and remap you've got one hell of a car there.

Shipping with insurance (imperative) could be anywhere IRO £1k, you'll see 10% duty on the FOB price including shipping and then you pay 20% VAT. Registration, tax, MOT, Fog light Another 400-500 quid.

Then you have the joys of replacing things like tyres if they're old or bald and general making good of any defect discrepancies with the auction report.

You're really going to want the car so make sure it's a keeper.

S204 Won't be easy to register and will cost a lot more as it will have to go through an IVA test.

In reality no more are going to come over for a little while yet then ? Should make any in this country already very desirable indeed and hold/command a strong price tag.

Could you not lie and say you paid £1000 for it and therefore lower the tax needed to pay?

2006 Sti for £1000 Customs are not that stupid. It would also mean the agents in Japan lying on your behalf as they invoice you. You also have to declare the value of the car when you register it. So you would also have to tell DVLA how much it's worth. If you say it's worth 1k then you will have to insure it at that value to.

In a nutshell NO!

For a mint example 9k-10k I would imagine. Not had a look for ages mate so it's not a accurate figure, but you'll be able to get widetrack next year as the first ones were made 2004 June.
