Your turbo(TD04) would probably max out at 280bhp, might be worth putting a STi(VF35) turbo on, can had for not much more then £250 and would happy see 320-340bhp with the right fueling, exhaust mods and obviously a remap!!

Kinugawa turbos people have been trying lately, not heard any horror stories as of yet so can't be that bad and are making decent power.
Look them up, budget turbo with decent results, how long they last that's another story I suppose, just have to wait and see what the verdicts come in like.

Kinugawa sell genuine turbo's not to be confused with chinese ****, i put a chinese td06 20g on a 03 wrx and it wasnt bad, raced a 02 sti with a unknown td06 20g apparently running 420 mapped by af and there was no difference between the 2, wrx wasnt mapped either it was a ppp.
It didnt last long though, catastrophic engine failure after 2 months. Might have been ok if mapped, when brand new out of the box the turbo seemed to have a bit of side to side play but had no contact with the housings, spool up wasnt as bad as expected either, it made 1bar at around 3500rpm and pulled hard, i suppose there might be some genuine manufacturers in china but we will never really know as there is a stigma attached to anything made there (with good reason coz most of it is shayt) so people wont buy products and test them and retrieve data to put forward to possible buyers, their ****ed from the start realy arent they lol

The thing is I have had a turbo with the car and I'm just assuming it's Chinese as there is no writing or engraving on it it is brand new in the box how can I find out what it is it says k2 on the side that's it and thanks for the info much appreciated

i agree with everything thats been said above and would like to add there are numerous subaru breakers out there who will not only sell you a cheap used turbo but fit it and arrange to have it mapped! i always use scoobyspares at fleetwood and they get andrew carr to do their mapping but there are plenty of other places. why go for a copy when you can get a real ..but used... original?

Throw it up on fleebay and get one you know is a good one, not worth the risk if you don't know what it
