Default safe power...

hello, what is the most power you can run on a turbo 2000 with standard engine internals and gearbox? ive had mine mine mapped with a 3 port boost solenoid, rcm 340 fuel pump, sti v3 top mount intercooler, catback exhaust sus indcution kit to around 275-280bhp but i want to keep it safe so wanted to know if i went for bigger injectors and a bigger turbo would it would it go past safe levels...?

Im having my T2000 mapped this week, similar mods to yours but with a TD05 16g and Nismo 555 Injectors. I was told that 350 is pretty much the limit, any more than that and it is asking for trouble, of course there will be exceptions. I have asked JGM to try and get mine to 340bhp to give a bit of lee way but we will see what happens Wednesday. Gearbox is i imagine more to do with how hard you drive it, launching it constantly even at standard power would probably destroy it quick enough lol. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will be along shortly to confirm/correct what i have said.

There is no 'safe level'. They can and do **** themselves at standard power. They are old cars now and most have done quite a few miles, pushing them over and above 300 is a risk. Many last years but many dont, if you are prepared for the worst then thats fine.

If it was mapped last week,, Why does it need a tweak now ??

What causes and engine or gearbox to go bang when you exceed power limitations? Heat build up? Pressure? Friction? Can a quality oil or reduction in car weight raise the bhp limit?

I road mapped it and offered to tweak it on the dyno so we could see what its running at some point in the future.. obviously future has come along sooner rather than later

I am just glad I found the bodge on the fuel pump wiring someone had done in the past and was able to sort it.

thats not failure due to power level though... thats failure due to wear, previous misuse etc etc..

Do you not think that upping the power by over 100bhp on an old worn engine would not increase the chance of failure then ???

will bring it on sooner yes of course but it would fail because the engine is worn..
