Default what is a 2001 bug uk300 worth as a breaker?

cant really be arsed with the hassle of breaking it, but the gearbox shat itself earlier and im not into paying what half the car is worth for a recon gearbox.

so weighing up all options.

not really got the time or space to **** about but if needs be, so be it.

its a 2001 on 81k miles, recon API engine on about 30k miles. std uk 300 everything else, ****ed gearbox.

cheers

Tbh, the uk300 wouldn't be worth much if anything more than a wrx to break. Fix it, otherwise you'd be gutted.

Agree with the above £100-£200 for the box, and £150 to replace

Ps. Paddy and Fudgey there's a haulage firm in Colne (Paddys home town) that'll deliver the gearbox for say £40 to your choice of place.

Cheers for the replies lads. Where is colne?
Im near swindon wilts. Thing is, as its a bit of a **** to fit a gearbox, id be a bit pissed if it wasnt any good lol.
Sherk, i couldnt afford an sti lol
Busta, will it fit the std diff, prop, shafts etc??
Rob, im diy mate, so will remove and fit myself.
If i can get a good box for £150 or so then id do that, the car tbh is not mint, when i bought it, it was filthy so couldnt see the bodywork... The engine however is the good bit lol, but needs another 150bhp or so i reckon...

Is there a how-to on gearbox removal on here? Like the pin thing that needs to be removed for the clutch?
Im sure if i search ill find more info but off to bed in a min.
Will be after boxing day before i get chance to start ripping it apart i expect.

all the bolts for the gearbox tot he block are all accessable from the top of the engine you ahve to remove the top mount and intakes hose etc. and iirc its about 7 or 8 14mm bolts and nuts.

the hardest part is splitting the box from the engine as they seize together.

this is the guide i used and video

Paddy, your fooking miles away unfortunately, but let me know if you get a decent 754 in!

Ill try and get mine out between xmas and new year and go from there.

Been looking at quaife and ppg kits lol, more than i paid for the damn car lol

Now that is a bloody good offer. £200 to supply and fit a box is an utter bargain.

You cant grumble at £200 fit, but it is a fair trek for you on a flatbed.

Mathew Kibble Transport would be around £40 (mates rate) price. That would be a palletised load too. If your going to contact them to go down this route then Speak to Dave as tell them you know me (Rob with the Subaru parts from Silentnight lol)

Rob, i could do with a new matress to lol

a customer came into to work today who usually refurb electric motors for us, kind of mentioned the car and he said, oh, we cut gears too. do a lot of work for F1 teams etc and he reckons they could cut new gears cheaper than subaru can supply...

so thats an option, i just need some drawings for a quote!

Are you sure? Afaik the 754 boxes came on the later blob onwards, I believe your 2001 bug will be a 752.

Any box will let go, depending on your driving/launching/double clutching style

Aren't the 754 boxes on the special edition classics like p1 etc. I've seen a 752 box on a wrx bug before that means they are not on 'all' newages/classics v5 on?
