Usual price for timing belt change?
I have been quoted £400 for a timing belt change, including a Gates belt, tensioner, pullies and coolant.
Is this a fair price? Whats the usual price for all the above please?
Cheers

for a full kit thats cheap, makes sure your getting it done with new parts, last time i saw this sort of price second hand belt was used.
I'd be very surprised if you can get a full kit for £200 mate

kit for classic with dayco belt £140
kit for classic with dayco belt plus water pump £190
all bearings are the same make as only nsk and ntn and koyo make them, as for belts dayco (formerly dayco pirrelli ) gates, continental, and transmission developments are the only manufacters. i sell belts and bearings for a job and non of those suppliers are cheep n cheerfull , if you wanted oe then its nsk bearings (thats what you get in a subaru box) and a gates belt the only people who make the belts kevlar reenforced are gates racing devision from america and i believe transmission developments

My car is a 2004 blob widetrack also and ive just had my cambelt, pulley and auxillary belts done. it was £200 for the kit and belts and £120 fitting inc antifreeze from a scooby specialist. i bought the cambelt kit from euro car parts on my mates account. It was a SKF kit

I phoned import car parts today and got
a full timing kit with pulleys and tensioner and water pump and oil pump and thermostat and sealant for the oil pump all for just under £400 which I thought was a great price for everything.
since I am doing my timing I thought to myself be as well do the oil and water pump while I am there

I bought a full kit from advanced automotive for around £170 then fitted it myself. If your handy with a socket set you'd be surprised how easy it is. Getting the crank pulley bolt loose was the hardest part for me.

I would love to try it myself, but lately Ive been working on the car in between the rain, worried I would get started, then it rains or get dark, and would end up taking me 3 or 4 days instead of a few hours!

Mine came to about £450 at Scoobyclinic (from memory, it might have been nearer £500) the day I bought it as it needed every idler replacing along with the tensioner. I'm sure you could get it done cheaper but I wanted a full checkover anyway so to me it was worth it.
