help - wondering if my cars been remaped
Hi all
right I have a 2003 impreza sti and I am starting to wonder if its been remapped
when I bought the car it had the following mods done that I know of
blitz nur spec exhaust and heat wrapped full decat
and a turbosmart bov
and some 19" wheels and aftermarket splitter and winglets " I know these have nothing to do with my question but my point with this is the owner before last changed some things to aftermarket on the car so what else has been done"
the guy I bought the car from only had it for a couple of months as his second car for a fun run around and was selling it when he relised the fuel bill
and didnt really know much about impreza's so I he was no help in telling what had been done to the car.
recently I installed a brand new set of prosport JDM stepper gauges into the car.
and my boost gauge is reading between 21 and 22 psi under boost which converts to 1.5 bar
then I read the standard boost for a 2003 STI is around 1.1 bar " am I correct in saying that ? "
also if a blob sti had a decat fitted without a remap would the CEL light come on
as my car has full decat and the CEL is not on.
TBH I hope it is remaped as then I dont need to get it done which I was planning LOL
any help or opinions would be appreciated

On Board Diagnostic socket Cliff, the later cars from Bugeye on for the UK market will be OBD2 standard compliant and the JDM cars from sometime into the Blobeye cars.
Before that if they had an OBD socket then they were just using Subaru's proprietary communication protocols, hence why you can plug a generic code reader into the OBD socket but nothing would happen.
On your Blobeye Cliff the socket is at the bottom of the steering column / lower dashboard.

The blobeye's fine Ty. I asked the question because I wondered if that would solve the op's question, and I've got an old classic to run around in and wondered if it's been tweaked too....thanks for the info

The JDM/UK Classics from Sept 98 (MY99) had the OBD socket and it was also fitted under the steering column. It's were the PSI3 units, code readers and mappers plug in.
You don't need a code reader per say as they have built in diagnostics by connecting the green and black connectors for certain applications, also under the column. A search on here will easily get you the "How To" Guide.

cheers guys for the reply's
Yea I will defo get it checked out
there is a rolling road just down the road from me at wallace performance but I would only trust them with a rolling road and nothing else.
I was waiting until getting a carbon induction from tegiwa and a aftermarket top mount intercooler before getting the car remapped.

A decent panel filter is what you want and please tell me its not an eBay top mount.

Hi RA Dunk you are from around my area and been into subaru's much longer than me mate
could you tell me anyone I can trust near aberdeen to do a remap on my impreza STI as I would not trust wallace performance to do a remap as I have heard horror stories about them from people who actually took there car to them.
I was planning to go to andy forrest but thats a fair travel to get to him
so is there anyone nearer aberdeen that is good at remapping

and want carbon and lots of polished aluminum and blue silicone.
the top mount I have looks a bit scabby so I was wanting another top mount that is new and looking shiny bud.

LOL Dan both links are for top mount intercoolers what you going on about a FMIC for FPMSL
I dont want a Fmic incase I get a little bit more turbo lag and a Fmic will not go with the tegiwa carbon induction kit I will be buying mate.

and the second one that I posted the link to only costs £206 as well
TBH I want a japspeed Fmic but I want the tegiwa carbon induction kit more.
its a pity that they can not go together as the carbon induction kit blocks the parts of the inner wing that the Fmic pipework goes to.
