Process of buying a car in the Rep. Ireland and registering in England?
Hi all
What is the process for purchasing a car in the Republic (Dublin) and then bringing it back over to England and registering with the DVLA?
I think its basically a case of registering it at the DVLA office and forking out for the flat admin fee (£70??) and that's it? how do I get it here though, can I drive it over??? (no VAT / Import duty etc etc etc)
What about MOT etc and can you use the Irish plates whilst it all gets sorted?
Thanks

Perfect thanks for the link mate.
So it looks like a process of:
a) Insuring the car on the VIN plate
b) Driving it back is ok as long as it goes into storage or MOT station
c) MOT it for the first time
d) Take £55+ road tax to the DVLA & register it
What about the V5C, is it the same process as the UK I just take part of it from the previous owner or do I need the whole V5C??

you'll get back one sheet of paper with your name on it. It's basically an entitlement of ownership. Make sure you tell them it's going for export.
It is only one piece of paper to start with.
The present owner has to send the tax book away. With your name and address on it.
