As above with forged 2.1 freshly rebuilt 6 speed box, full service including cambelt, full mot and 6 months tax. Any rough estimations?

£7/7.5k who built the engine and who did the box, milage, pics and a spec list might help.

Mansfield engines did the engine fully tested by scooby clinic which made 480ish bhp on their sc42 now back to standard vf35 running 340. 78k on the clock ast coilovers fresh respray on front end. Box rebuilt by scoobyclinic and fully maintained by them.

A black Prodrive bug is about the most desirable UK bug model for many me included, with that and fresh engine and box it's £7k all day long, if I were selling I would want at least £8k though.

No proof mate but had compression test leak down test etc as well as rolling roaded. Got it for a price that prodrive bug sti's go for without a rebuild so either way I'm happy.

Someone else from here was keen on this car but not having proof of the build is a major downer imo. It makes it very difficult to sell as having a forged 2.1 when you can't actaully prove it.
If the clinic know who built it then why haven't they contacted the builder and asked for a copy of the build receipt ?
What other history is with the car ?

Yeah I know mate but having a look round the price reflects a non rebuilt one anyway and they've said the engine is healthy. They've serviced it for a long time and apparently took ownership after the previous owner didn't pay money owed to them. Freshly rebuilt box by them, new excedy clutch, new cambelt and all fluids changed. Front end freshly re sprayed as we speak. 12 months mot 6 months tax 3 months warranty ast coilovers so is good enough for me

What I don't understand is if the clinic know who built the engine why haven't they approached said garage and got a copy of the build info. It would help not only their sale but more importantly your sale in the future when you decide to move it on.

I get where you're coming from mate, I rang the engine builders with the reg and there wasn't a record but did say they only get the engine a lot of the time. Think I'll have to trace previous owner and see if they could shed some light on it.

I'd be investigating that car further before parting with any money.

Sometimes what appears a great deal is often not. I certainly wouldn't be spending 6 grand on an impreza with an unknown quantity under the bonnet. How many miles has the engine done, what parts were used in the build, has it been serviced regulary using decent products etc etc...
