Cast hypereutectic pistons. Still a strong engine which will handle 450 bhp with all the supporting mods.

I've heard that these are prone to problems though. Is that right and if so what causes?

I may be wrong in my interpretation of your question as I read it that you are asking if the block of the engine is cast or forged. When people talk about forging the engine this refers to the pistons inside the engine not the block of the engine.

It's the later 2.5 which is plagued by problems

Sorry it's not very clear ste. Truth is i'm only asking as it was mentioned to me to check as there were probs with the cast engines. I honestly don't know in what way that relates, so happy for guidance on it.
