Default Syvecs Toucan or iThing??

Hi girls and guys
I don't usually ask many questions as I try and search as many forums as possible before wasting peoples time but here goes...

After hearing rumours, is it possible to plug in an iPod to a Syvecs ECU, via bluetooth, to do the same job as a Toucan display?
Toucan displays are VERY expensive for what they do (compared to an Ipod Touch) and lets face it, they're ugly - No offence Tim from JTI if you're listening....

Any thoughts or experiences?
Many thanks,
Paul.

Hi Paul

If you want to use iPad or iPhone,iPod on yours you will need get Syvecs Bluetooth module, this will supply yours Syvecs dealer or yours mapper, depends

Yours iThing will needs to have Bluetooth without this will not work, have look on this thread and I'm sure this thread will answer yours questions

http://www.syvecs.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=26

If you want to see all gauges or read all data on yours iThing and hopefully soon Android, you will need Syvecs sensor pack, without this you will be reading only few parameters like RPM,Speed,Boost,Coolant due this I would add or buy Syvecs Sensor Pack

Hope this helps

Jura

No offence taken Each to their own lol.

I don't know whether an iPod will work, but assuming it has bluetooth I don't see why not? They are £199. The bluetooth module from Syvecs is £250+VAT - so that makes for a £500 combo, which is more expensive than a Toucan by the way.

The two offerings do very similar things, although the Alarm options on Toucan are more extensive, and it can also control the Syvecs via CAN rather than relying on physical connections using up Syvecs inputs.

My own (biased!) opinion - the looks apart lol - is that Toucan is best for permanent install, whereas the Iphone/iPad/Android solution is good for occasional use. YMMV

Toucan FTW
As said for a permanent installation there is nothing as comprehensive on the market.
