Stupid intermittent fault No. 1.
Condensation in the car!
The interior/carpets/mats/seats show no sign of damp.
The boot is bone dry, even the spare wheel well and side wells.
Some days the car is fine, others, like today, when the sun has been on it and has now gone down, leave a thick layer of condensation on the windows.
I understand the mechanics/physics of it, but what I'd like to know is: WHERE'S IT COMING IN???

Check the little slider on the heater controls so it is set to air through
the car as opposed to circulating if that makes sense.
I had the same thing with my classic and a simple slide of the switch
sorted it.

Yea this, a passenger moved mine to circulating and for a few days i couldn't figure out why the car all of a sudden was full of condensation when leaving work etc, eventually i noticed the position of the switch, and it was problem solved once i'd flicked it back to air through the car

producing condensation which won't go away unless the car has
a good run and time to warm through thoroughly.
I work a four on four off shift pattern and if I didn't use the classic on
my four off it would start to condensate. No issue with the bugeye though.

riidaa: recirc is set to allow fresh air in, it was the first thing I checked.
Raptorman: how can it produce condensation naturally? From where?
Condensation relies on their being enough moisture in the atmosphere to condense on the glass when the temperature falls. yet the inside of the car is, apparently, dry.
And yet, leave it in the sun all day, when the temperature falls, there is the condensation again.
So the moisture must be present....but where is it?
I've even checked UNDER carpets: dry as a bone.

I am assuming the car in question is a classic? If so you say you have checked under
the carpets and they are dry, have you checked the rear inner wings where the jack
is stored as water can leak in there?
Just pop the jack cover off and stick your hand in as far as you can.

Had the same with my car and I traced it down to the plastic sheet behind the door card mine were split and let a small amount of water in and onto the back of the door card which made them damp but did not show on front side,fitted new ones problem solved.Hope this helps and its the same thing

It's this and nothing more. My Volvo does it if I don't use it for a few days. The air inside the car is static and not being changed which makes it worse.
This will solve the issue:

Have you tried replacing the cabin air filter? Mine was beginning to steam up more regularly (it's always going to do it a little after leaving damp climbing gear in there overnight) and having found an improvement in my old Octavia got a new filter ordered from ebay for a fiver. Five minutes is all it took and the condensation is 99% improved. My old filter looked like the original so could easily have been ten years old and was just rammed full of dirt, dust and gunk that was trapping the moisture and not allowing it to dry out properly.

Mine has had this problem from new (no damp floor/carpets) - I gave up trying for a solution. The moisture trap thingys didn't make any difference.

No cabin air filter, it's a classic.
I still don't see WHERE the condensation is coming from. It's moisture, so it must be IN the car. Whether as moisture or vapour, it must be there. Yet some cold days, no condensation, others: condensation.
How can that be?
