Default Engine rebuild required,any recommendations?

Spoke with 2 reputable well known specialists today and was very impressed with 1,the other didnt seem to have the time to talk to me (maybe a good indicator?).
My engine is basically low on compression and needs head work.
After troubleshooting a misfire I found I have leakage on 3 cylinders past the rings and leakage past the inlet valves and probably the rings on the other.
Before I pick a rebuilder can anyone recommend a rebuilder they have had great experience with?
Not needing anything out of the ordinary, prob upto a reliable 400 bhp.
Ta in advance.

Paul Finch @ Finchmotorsport, he has two built short motors in the car parts for sale section under Motors-S-GT. Certainly any headwork. Can't recommend him highly enough.

This may bore you but....

I wanted a fully forged engine capable of 600bhp and started doing my research. This was followed up by spending a fortune on fuel and visiting the well known and recommended.

Engintuner in Plymouth was my choice. It only takes about 5 and a half hours to get there.

Why?!.... I arrived and was greeted with a cup of tea. They were really busy and i had a little wait but then Alan showed up and introduced himself.
He took me on a tour of the work shop, the engine building room, the machinist, the dyno and then started showing me the completed cars and the ones that were being worked on. There were quite a few imprezas, not to mention ferraris and even an original GT40. You would happily eat your dinner off the work shop floor.

The place was immaculate!

Alan went through all sorts of options available from Time Attack to sensible and reliable.

I was sold!

This was all followed up by tens of emails and phone calls.

My advice.... Go and see the individual companies, drink their tea and make your mind up form there.

Paul is the only engine builder I'd use, the quality of workmanship is exceptional & the price is reasonable. He's always willing to give help & advice too & recently helped me trouble shoot an issue on my car FOC.

That sounds great but due to my location and family/work I just cannot visit individual places.
Andy Forrest is close to me but I cannot get hold of him.
Nobody so far has mentioned scoobyclinic for engine work, any reason why?

I don't think Andy forest actually builds engines does he?

Andy Hill from Richard Henry Motorsport in bradford gets my vote. Smashing bloke!
His knowledge is endless, thier work is fantastic. They run 2 cars that are very competitive.

Can't recommend them enough.

Called Round a few places today and got another 2 rough quotes, quite impressed with the conversation i had with Alan Jeffrey's but its going to cost me near what I paid for the car to get the turbo and management to go with it.
Got some thinking and number crunching to do!

Mind Andy will only do your mapping once your build is actually complete - he won't do the build. Drop me a PM if you get chance as I went through the same scenario as you last year as wanted to forge my Hatch Sti and did so.

The most basic advice that a few have offered is so true, who has time for their customers at outset makes BIG difference is your parting with a lot of money and expect allround service to match.
