After a bit of Advice
Hi,
New here and just after a bit of advice off you guys who already own Impreza's and are in the know.
I'm 21 years old I've just had a promotion in work and I'm deciding to go after getting my childhood hero car (WRX) I'm aware insurance will be steep for me due to my age, but I've got quotes ranging from 950 to 1350 so I'm okay with paying that!
I'm just looking for general advice on firstly what to look out for when buying one? (I'm 90% going to buy one from a garage but have a seen a few privately too, looking for an 05 to 07 model) Also then the best ways to maintain them and what you guys do to keep yours in top shape ?
e.g what tyres are best, oil you use, how often you service things a long those lines!
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Welcome to the forum, the search function or google which will lead you back to specific threads related to you queries will be your best resource, then as and when you have questions or aspects of your search that haven't been covered is the time to get your feet wet and fire away, as these are subjects that have been covered time and time again over the years.
You will also be able to deduce from this information exactly which model is best for your requirements.

You tried a quote on an STI? Wasn't much different from a WRX when I was 21 (1200 off the top of my head)
Depends on what kind of thing you're after of course. Slightly more uncomfortable but much faster/tuneable STI or the more comfortable, more sedate WRX.

If you can go for a STi you will have a better starting platform. If you go for a modified car then have a good look at the receipts as too who did the work, who mapped it and if they have Dyno graphs to back up the work. Don't be shy about asking questions on here, yes some will take the mick but the majority will be decent. Have a look through the mapping section to get used to the names of the trusted mappers on here so you can see if the mapper of the car is a back street or a trusted person. On the tuned car side decent suspension and brakes with moderate engine tuning will do a lot better than a car with just big engine numbers and no/minimal handling work.
Last of welcome to the mad house!!!
