If you look at the power graphs from the prodrive maps you can clearly see why a modded wrx is a lot more fun than an sti (I have both).
The smaller turbo spools quicker at lower revs and reaches its peak torque approx 415nm (not max power or thrust) at 3000 revs and there is a steeper torque increase than for the sti which only reaches 380nm by 3000 revs, That is why the sti always seems a little disappointing compared to the wrx – until the bigger grunt kicks in, as you are not getting the most acceleration low down and why a standard sti 276bhp is slower to 60mph than a prodrived wrx 266bhp.
So as I’ve always said my wrx is more fun to drive than my sti.

Why do it? You must know from your post about up pipes exactly what way this thread is going to go.

If you bought a WRX then cool, enjoy.
If you bought a STi then cool, enjoy.
The only people who go on about one being better than the other are only out for a wind up. As long as you didn't buy a sport/Gx then it really doesn't matter.

A prodrive wrx against a standard sti or prodrive wrx against a prodrive sti ???

 

Get a grip mrjelly, nothing will beat my sti as it's super fast and so much more better to drive as I have ic spray when I pull off wrx hasn't got that

 

Having both owned newage wrx and newage sti I think both can be fun regardless of power it's just the options that the sti has which is what make it more desirable 6spd brembos etc I loved my wrx I think it was a cracking car and a lot of fun but I also think my sti is a lot of fun also just my opinion

Bear in mind that the driving experience is as much down to the driver in two broadly similar cars. I can transform the way my car drives by altering my driving style from changing up at 2500rpm when the missus and my son are in the car on partial throttle opening or going WOT to the high 5000's on every gear change.

I defy anyone to drive their car at the limits explored by a dyno run on a daily basis and keep their licence let alone keep the car from eventually imploding.

 

Im not comparing if one is better than the other.....
I love both my hawk wrx and hawk sti. I cant really compare anyways cos neither are prodrived anymore and the sti wasnt right when I got her and I changed a lot and remappped straight away.
BUT I have had a standard sti and I THINK the prodrive wrx is better.

I find driving my wrx is more fun, but I like my sti more, probably cos she's louder, looks better and has more grunt.
This post was really a little bit of fun but also in response to a newbies post in which he is already regretting buying a prodrive wrx instead of an sti cos folk say the sti is better blah blah blah and its a shame to spoil someone elses experience of what is a great car.

I also have an octi vrs and she boosts form 1800 revs and everytime I drive her I think why do I bother having scoobs.

There is no point in comparing, you have what you have and you mod how you like, thats it.

Im sorry if this post wound anyone up, I am only too aware of how much the topic has been done to death and people are always saying Im mental for having both a hawk wrx (288bhp 238 torque I think) and an sti (368bhp 398 torque)

by the way all my cars are blue and EVRYONE knows blue is the fastest colour ha ha

You should all know by now that the WRX Wagon PPP is by far the fastest Subaru ever made. Still can't touch the Rover 214 though.

Understandable, it cant be much fun waiting for a HG or ringland to fail...

 

Mine does 0-60 in 4.8 secs off every set of lights.

 

And for less money than a PPP you can get even better performance from a good remap.

Sti's are ****!!

Heavier, slower spooling and overated.

The only plus points is the brakes.

And don't get me started on the ride, baby blue interior and pink details!!!

The sti is the far better car its just wrx owners trying to convince themselves they haven't got the poor version.
The seats are identical in wrx to sti just a different colour but agreed the blue is nasty.

And I own neither but have had both in the past....

 

seats arnt the same mate, wrx have side impact airbags, sti ones dont

if you dont want a total hardcore ride then wrx is a better car so realy depends on how you define better

Imprezas are a performance car. If you want comfort its not really an impreza thing.
