Default Headlight bulbs, classic impreza

Good afternoon all,

A topic discussed before I am aware, however there appear to be three winners when it comes to replacing the candle sticks which are fitted as standard. From my research these are -

Osram Night Breaker Plus 60/55w

or

Philips Rally Bulb 100/90w

or

Philips X-treme Vision

What are your thoughts on these? I am beginning to understand the impact of the scatter in the classic lens, and the reason why my HID's are frankly dangerous.

Anybody got any experience? Other ideas?

Also, I am very much excited by the idea of projectors, however the cost of doing this is unclear. Any tips for projector fitments and cost would be great too.

Thank you in advance

I had nightbreakers in my old classic, compared to standard bulbs it was like night and day (pardon the pun) I'd avoid any of the 100w bulbs though, not good for your wiring and afaik they're not legal!

I have just fitted the Nightbreakers to the RA, these are an excellent upgrade. Have a look in the link for a comparison.

I have also previously fiited aftermarket HID's and removed them because they looked good but performed badly.

Be careful fitting the higher rate bulbs unless the light and relays are uprated, as per the early RA's. Have a look at the bottom of the page in the link below.

Halfords Ultra Brilliance when on BOGOF, or Ring 120% uprated are also worth a look.

I have chrome white piaa headlight and sidelight bulbs in the rb5 and they perform great.
Abit ££££ but worth it.
Sidelight bulbs aren't listed here!??

Not a big fan of PIAA...they do the same job as other uprated bulbs for a LOT more money.

Thanks for the input guys, working as a democracy it looks like the Nightbreakers have taken it!

Thanks for the picture Trooper, another concern was getting rid of the yellowish glow of the standards. Yours looks great though.

There doesn't appear to be a BOGOF on at the moment, else Halfrauds would be getting a visit as I have heard good things about the Ultra's. But thanks for the tips.

Perhaps I should have tackled this coming into winter, not out of it! Oh well... summer evening driving here we come
