Default Powerstation suspension upgrade stage 1

Hi all just got home from powerstation after having the stage 1 kit fitted to my hatch. And what a differance it makes, the car now feels more like my 03 blob on the road, when I first got the hatch I had read that the steering was light with not a lot of feedback to the driver, this is moreso if you drive both cars back to back.I also did a trackday at Oulton park last month in the hatch that was wet in the morning That was not very nice as you got no warning of a slip or slide through the steering
But the drive home tonight 200 mile plus cross county and motorway was spot on you can feel the front wheels griping the road
So I am a happy man

Phil

Agreed, steering on the hatch is shyte. And it's a pain in the **** to sort out.

Lazy stuff by Subaru and something that they should have made better.

Even boggo French rep boxes have zipper steering than a stock STi hatch.

I think the hawk STI steering is a little light too, compared to the 350z and FN2 that I had.

Not the same car I know, but super pro steering bushes on my wagon really improved the feel along with a geo set up and a few other bushes has transformed the feel and handling and as you say I can know feel the front wheels gripping, much more controllable, turn in and direction changes are a joy along with controllable slides when conditions allow.

Subarus are not renown for their steering feedback.
French cars on the other hand are.
Going from a 205 GTi to a WRX made me feel like I was driving a boat.

I think you will find that in standard trim, this is very true.
Before I went for the type 25 suspension upgrade, braking into corners was a definite no-no.
Now it is just part of the fun.

Indeed, I have tried 7 different suspension setups until I was satisfied
Even then I think one needs more castor to get more feedback through the wheel.

I think the castor is the biggest factor.
I think the ALK allows for extra castor as well as softening the suspension under braking, so that is win win - I could be wrong though.
