impreza 2000 turbo, mod or upgrade?
Hi all,
im currently having a dilemma over what to do about my car. do I pay close to £1000 on my uk turbo having a TD05 fitted or upgrade to another car like an STI or similar spec which already has 280+bhp?
cheers Jay

Depends how good your car is IMO. Is it worth keeping hold of, ie low mileage or not rusty?
I've got both a UK turbo and an STI, both last of the classic shape. I do love my UK car but the STI is a nice package. Driving the STI just feels so much more sporty, handles better, steers nicer and obviously goes better.
If the UK car is a good base, then why not add some mods. But if it's a mediocre example then I'd say put the money towards an STI. The only problem I can foresee would be the price of a good classic STI these days and the fact you'd be extremely lucky to add a grand towards a similar year STI to get a nice example.
The STI has a lot of extra bits that make it a much better package, even if you sling a turbo on the UK car they're not the same (been there done that) as the STI has different gearing and different engine which revs much better. Then you have the suspension, steering rack (in some cases) alloy wishbones etc. plus then you've got the nicer interior bits and the fact the later classic sti's have much nicer climate controls.
