Hello
After reading the post on the SIDC forum I've now gone full tilt into getting my car sorted with a boost guage and better hoses. once I've got that lot sorted I'll be back.
Sorry I didn't reply on SIDC the site doesn't like my login
hope to see most of you at KH on sat
Craig.

I'd defo be interested John.
I've an MY00 with the following mods;
Boost gauge fitted on A-pillar
Centre console gauge pack (oil temp, pressure & voltage)
Lambda Link
Scorpion d/p, Janspeed decat center, Magnex b/b
ITG panel filter
Resonator removed
Denso Iridium Spark plugs
Power Engineering intercooler protector
Are the upgraded Samco Hoses necessary or an optional extra to have the ECUTek done ?

Theo, your car is an ideal one to map with that spec. The uprated intercooler hoses are a nice precaution when running extra boost. What is the worst that could happen? - the factory ones could split and you would have a boost/vacuum leak - would not be catastrophic as they are easily replaced, but your car would probably drive very badly if at all until they were sealed. I don't go silly with the boost, but when you see the quality of the originals it is a wise move. I have mapped several cars without them, just with the advice to get them "soon". So far none have split that I have heard of on any of these cars. The crucial one is the 90 degree bend from the turbo outlet to the intercooler.

Xcellent
Defo interested now.
Would coincide nicely with her 30k service which I'd plan for Falkland to carry out (unless you can recommend another outfit John?) so I could get the hoses done then.
Keep me posted if there's a take up of the offer.

Phill you will be able to pick one up for £75 if you put a wanted up or you could swap your PPP ECU for one and cash. It only usually takes me a few days to get hold of one. Also the breakers are a good source - AE802 is perfect and often cheaper to those in the know.

Alan yes I would be game for doing yours, but I'd only let you keep it if you preferred it to your Link! You'll also need a fairly robust MAF sensor setup. What induction kit are you using? I know you are going for a bigger turbo than mine as well
SCOS if you really want me to reprogram your PPP ECU I can, but why not sell it?

Alan we could reprogram an ECU of mine on your car and see how we get on. If we make progress and you like it then fine. If not we just abandon? I think it will be the former We can do the big injectors now too - just waiting for a software update to make it easier, but it can be done now.
BTW you are a nutta!

You said 'blue' on the SIDC site, do you mean Scooby Dooby Blue? Surely that little rat hasn't got his ECU reprogrammed behind my back has he Here was me wanting to whoop his *** at Crail
Must be someone else, I thought you can only do 99/00 ECU's and he has a fugly
When I get back from the north I'll check the finances and see if I can get myself sorted with a samcos, downpipe and midsection.
What downpipe and mid should I go for John. I'll go (within reason) with whatever you think is best for mapping.

Every car runs slightly different boost and generally I have been using a 17.4 PSI boost target. Most cars seem to be between 16.4 and 17 PSI with this duty cycle in summer weather which seems sensible for road or track. It is not so far on the edge that it should really make too much difference. Your particular car seems to like to advance a lot, so anything but a hesitating bag of ***** now However, this could also be your static timing being slightly different to other cars, or the sound of your engine and how your knock sensor reacts to it. They all seem a bit different in a few subtle respects.

No, I map it to keep the knock sensor quiet, since on JECS if it starts retarding it seems to over-react - ie you can often fix -4 degrees knock correction in a zone by taking only two degrees off.

Hope you haven't forgotten about me! I still want my P1 reprogrammed but due to redundancies at my work (seen the news?) I have to delay it a little.
The exhaust has changed as well. Out went the complete mongoose system and in went the Blitz NurSpecR with original downpipe. I want to change the down pipe to catless before I want the ECU reprogrammed. I've still got the Blitz induction kit and that's all the mods there is.
Sound reasonable? Please reply to me via my e-mail thanks.
Cheers

kart_man,
Has Saxo's goading finally got to you ?
I'm seeing John this Saturday for the upgrade. Welcome to come along and view the results (if JB doesn't mind)
